H/T...both Charlton and Peterborough winning.....we need some luck this coming half.....maximum bad at the moment.
Was almost bound to happen plym so no shock from me. To be honest if we stay out of the play offs now I would not be too worried or bothered. We have had a good season whatever happens now. Up to our necks in the brown stuff at the start and an exciting run of results to follow. Bit of drama and a lot of happy clapping to follow. What's not to like. I would be happy to go back to Wembley if the trip were possible but I won't be heartbroken if nothing at the end either.
5 yellows and 1 red for Northampton v Peterborough. I'm saying nothing. 1st Peterborough goal and 2 of 5 yellows follow fouls on W***er Maddison. Maddison also booked for an unspecified offence. Any guesses what that might have been?
Final score 3-1....it's difficult to see how Charlton's new owners (who ever they are) cannot give Lee Bowyer the managers job.
The play-off spots are wide open....two of the favourites Scunthorpe and Rotherham have fallen away recently....and we have to play them both....so our destiny is in our own hands....we can do this still.
You could say it was a bad day at the office today....trouble is we weren't in the office ourselves. Final match of the day Portsmouth...2-1...Wigan... pushes us down to 9th....all our rivals won today (except Rotherham)....at least Scunthorpe didn't....but it is us now who have a game in hand over them....accepting Charlton who are on the same games, 1pt ahead and two goal better off than us. We just need to win these games coming up...we can knock them out of the race.
If we beat Scunthorpe then we are back to the play off spots. To stay there we would have to beat Peterborough to keep them behind and Portsmouth to do the same. By then we could also beat Rotherham to go in front of that club. It's hardly the end of the world yet is it and the only reason we are not still in 6th or rather 5th is because we didn't get the opportunity having not played. There is a long way to go yet so I guess nobody can crow too loudly and the fat lady hasn't even left the dressing room let alone started to warm up the voice. We have as much momentum currently as the other 3 clubs on the rise. It's the ones who keep it up who will win in the end.
There was a time not so long ago when we'd played 1 or 2 games MORE than those around us. Now we have 1 game IN HAND on most and are still in the fight with the group up to Rotherham in 4th spot. It's always better to have the points in the bag than rely on games to come but the damage wasn't done by an abandoned game on Saturday but by losing to Charlton - we were bound to have a bad game eventually. Since then, we've bounced back by thrashing Southend, who may not be very good but who hadn't lost in their preceding 4 games, including drawing with Doncaster and beating Rotherham. It's not lost yet by any means.
Charlton are the only one in that group who are better off....by 1pt and 2 goals.....we could finish 5th and 6th
The Scunthorpe game has been rearranged for Tuesday May 1st at 7.45pm....we might have a full squad by then......means we finish with two away games.
No matter what happens we have had a decent season, who would have thought we would be talking Playoffs in December, Shame we never had so many red cards early on or who knows what position we would be in now. Im happy with the season, play offs or not. Push on again next year.. all progress
