I'm guessing in a lot of peoples minds this is yet another must win game. I'm not sure I'd put that title on any game in a season unless it was the last one and a result was needed. However, it is important and we do need to start picking up the home points again.

We have generally improved although we do still give away soft goals. Not including Tuesdays effort as that was pretty much unstoppable. We need to get a bit stronger in the rear and start converting at the front. Not easy when we have a virtual total sick note striker department. There are however little green shoots of things to be happier about so lets hope this is where the recovery starts. We can win this.

We’re short of CB’s now. Gibson’s gone, Szucs is injured and so now is Brendan Galloway. Never rains but it pours does it?
 
A mid-field leader and a proven striker required now would help.....lets hope our new manager has been getting his ideas through this week.....seal up the defence.....get the mid-field dominate....and get goals up front........simple really.

QPR have been doing quite well recently.....so we need to score early and regain our early home form.....the next game will be Burnley and they have an incredibly miserly defence....plus only two defeats all season.
 
Never get all this tactic stuff anyway. Football is a simple game. You have the ball and you pass it to one of your own players. You move up the pitch and eventually somebody in your team places the ball between 3 posts into a net. You just have to make sure all of your players know exactly what to do to achieve that simple outcome before they run out onto the pitch. I knew I should have applied for the job.
 
You don't i think have the advantage of ArgyleTV.

He says he wants to simplify things. He doesn't want to overload them. Get a good structure to be more competitive and safe. We have the quality to challenge QPR and compete. Stability, passion. QPR play through Frey and we are exactly prepared for that but we also know where QPR are vulnerable and we are prepared for that too.

If he manages as well as he talks we'll be OK.

Certainly no new manager bounce for Argyle.

In fact all three early matches have resulted in maximum grief for Argyle... with both Hull and Cardiff gaining three points each.

Just needs Portsmouth to win later to complete maximum woe for Argyle....definitely looking bleaker at the bottom of the table.....<doh><doh>
 
Why was Cissoko given so little time on the pitch.....isn't he fit ?

Sounds as if he went straight down the tunnel after full time.....not a happy bunny.

One point taken from two home games against beatable opponents....so five precious points thrown away.

The mighty Burnley with the tightest defence in the league Tuesday night at Home Park.....that could be difficult.
 
This was a poor match between two poor teams. Not many good chances but most of what there were fell to QPR.

We were forced to revert to a back 4 by the injury to Brendon Galloway and that means Bali Mumba at full back.

There’s a rule whereby the risk of conceding a goal R is inversely proportional to the distance D Mali Mumba is from the goal squared. The further away he is, the better off you are.

He twice was last man and tried to bring the ball down and turn at the same time with a clever flick. The first time he tried it he got away with it. The second time, he lost us the game.

When you’re last man inside your own half, facing your own goal with an opponent breathing down your neck, hoof it into touch for goodness sake.

Hull Cardiff and Portsmouth all win today.....leaving Argyle 5pts adrift at the bottom and 6pts away from safety....with Burnley up next followed by Sunderland away and then WBA at home....then a bit of light relief....Liverpool in the cup.
 
We don’t need to bother ourselves with what other teams are doing.

We have the players to do better individually. Including Bali Mumba.

What’s f••ked us up is multiple changes of manager and consequent changes in playing style. That plus an horrendous injury list.

Muslic, either through personal preference or recognition of what he’s got at his disposal, rightly went for a back 3. We got two draws despite the absence of a fit striker. Today, he’s been forced into a back 4and we’ve lost due to an individual error.

This transfer window and returns from injury will be crucial but it’s going to be a rough ride and we’ll just have to get on with it

if we play a 3, then it’s hard to see where Cissoko fits is hard to see. It’s not all about one player. It’s going to be tough but we’ll have to live with.

We might have only lost by one goal...but the stats pointed to it possibly being three or four.

Cissoko is the nearest at the moment that we have got to an attacking forward......Hardie is in and out of the team like a yo yo......no wonder he isn't delivering the goods......Whittaker is blowing hot and cold....more cold than hot this season.....all three of them have suffered injuries this season.....our on field general Edwards is still recovering from injury.....why so many injuries in the team....is it just bad luck.....or is it the way they are being prepared.......Muslic we are depending on...lets hope he can solve these problems and help bring a genuine goal scorer in..... plus a mid-field leader so that our mid-field can perform.

We might be 6pts from safety ...but that isn't the end of the world....although the next few games look more demanding then the last two games which were winnable.....if injuries are the main reason for this mess...let hope that changes soon....although our last two managers haven't been blameless.
 
But if we play with a back 3, then the wide attacking options are the wing-backs, likely Mumba and Puchacz. Where then does Cissoko fit? That's exactly what I mean about the constant changes of manager, recruitment and preferred playing style.

If we're going to play a back 3, we need another CB to replace Gibson. Galloway is good when he plays but unfortunately, he does seem to be injury prone.

When Joe Edwards returns, we would have a reasonable ability to play a back 4 with Edwards and Puchacz as the full-backs. We'd need to recruit at least one more full back in this window as cover so that we'd have continuity. I don't know where we stand with Saxon Earley. Then we could play two wide attackers, probably Mumba and Cissoko.

Muslic has a point though. We just weren't good enough yesterday.

I had to leave before the end yesterday due to a family thing. I missed the last 10 minutes and any injury time there was so I did see the majority even if spared some. First the officials as is my current tradition. The female lino on the lyndhurst side got very little right all afternoon and was indeed totally useless. She failed to see any offsides or fouls for the duration of the first half and then occasionally invented an offside that wasn't in the second half. The Ref was equally piss poor and again up to the usual standard this season so far. He booked a player in the first minute. I thought wow we have a Ref who is not afraid to give a right result no matter what stage the match is at. That was about it from him and he let QPR off numerous cards after that. So much so that I think their players thought they had a green light to kick anything at anytime.

Argyle were generally woeful all afternoon and QPR were not superior and just as bad. A poor match sums it up. Bali Mumba was trying hard to gift them a goal for the entire second half and in the end was successful. He never gave up so I supose he had to give it away at least once too often. Passing poor. Endeavour poor. The only bright spark was Grimshaw nearer the end who pulled off several excellent saves to keep the embarrassment to a minimum. Make no mistake, unless something drastic happens and soon we are going down. So MOM Grimshaw and the Turkey prize Bali Mumba.

I agree. We need the injured back tout suite and a successful end to the transfer window. We need:
  1. A keeper as injury cover
  2. A centre back or possibly two to give injury cover
  3. A right back if Joe Edwards isn’t close to ready
  4. A striker
Otherwise, we’re dead and gone.

A goal scoring striker is our biggest problem.....goals can take the pressure off a defence.....having only scored 25 league goals and played 27 matches that is less than one goal a match.....ok our mid-field is weak and not producing the opportunities for our strikers to score....sort those two problems out and we would win more points.
 
We’re unlikely to be buying a 30-goal a season striker unless someone can work an absolute miracle and find one no other club has spotted in lower league football somewhere in the world.

In the first instance, all we need is someone to lead the line and pull the opposition defence about.

At the moment, we’ve got two injured and so only Ryan Hardie available. He’s just back from injury and so ideally he wouldn’t be playing 90 minutes, twice a week.
