I am lost for words. Apparently, and it isn't my usual to gossip or spread malicious stuff, NOTDISTANT originally posted Argyle to lose this one in the Prediction thread. If Argyle do lose this then all I can say is there is only one man to blame. Shocking.

Ah no, I put the digits in the wrong way around as I thought of Argyle first.

Anyway, I reverted to my old Argyle mug on the day of the QPR game and we won, so I shall be sticking with it, coffee and tea stained as it is. That should do the trick.

Argyle seem to have no leadership on or off the pitch.
 
This just isn’t good enough. Lots of possession but conceding too many goals when nominally in charge.

We clearly need a CB who’s a leader and organiser.

Wiredu is a liability. That’s two red cards isn’t it?

Oseni needs to start. Two goals in two games.
 
What about Sonny Bradley doing a return trip? Decent centre back, leader and pain in the butt style. Ok he may have slowed a tad but we are getting desperate. Oseni has 3 in the last two. I was watching this unfold today online. Once they went one down I just knew it was only a matter of time before it was two. Looking at the stats I didn't expect three though. Playing for the final 10 or 15 minutes will only lose you games. I cannot quite understand the choice of team to start. I do understand though that supporting Argyle only leads to disappointment in the end. I should have more than learned a lesson by now.
 
Tom Cleverley continues to play his same formation and playing players in not their natural positions.

What seems worrying is that Lincoln had not much to offer....but Argyle gave them a goal start through the hapless Palsson who has been captain for the first three league games.....yet looks completely out of his depth.

Dominating possession but unable to finish with a goal.....until they where three goals down and only fifteen minutes left.....and then with the help of Wiredu getting sent off ended up a man short.

Argyle looked poor and lacked leadership and look as if they face a long hard season.....can Cleverley sort out this team of under achievers and start trying some other formations that might play to their strengths.....can he show leadership and prove that he is better then some of the recent coaches/managers.

Whilst writing this Wayne Rooney has been on Match of the Day and is now being interviewed.....why do they think he is the best person to be a pundit on the BBC.....he has just mentioned that he got sacked at Plymouth when he thought they were doing ok ??.....just don't understand the logic...there are far better ex-players who could do that job.
 
Just listened to Tom Cleverley's post-match comments.....he certainly doesn't instil much confidence in the way he talks and he sounds rather despondent.

Just three games gone...and of course plenty of points still to win...but how do you get these players performing in defence and in attack.....every match they have played in they've been two goals down......and only changed it around against QPR's boys team.

Hitting the ground running after a relegation isn't easy....but these players seem to have individual skills good enough for this league but just haven't got the leadership to put it together and at least hold there own.....this feels like Rooney MK11 at the moment.

Lincoln as a team just didn't seem that dangerous.....but we managed to make them look good at 3-0 down.

Palsson as captain doesn't work and there was many comments on other Argyle websites wondering what the hell he was doing on the pitch.....ok injuries in the squad don't help.....and why are there players with a wrist bandaged up ?

At least two players needed desperately.....a central defender who is a leader and organizer.....and of course a No9.....probably a on going problem for the last two years.

Wiredu seems to be a player that can get himself into trouble too often.... and seems to be mentally not in a good place.....taken off early once and red carded yesterday.....we don't need to be down to ten men.....we have trouble performing with eleven men at the moment.

To me, the problem is that we’re conceding too many goals against the run of play and that’s because the CB’s available to him aren’t up to the job, not as a group picked together anyway.

He’s lost the best two we had last season without replacement. Katic - brutal. Maxi - fist pumps after flying tackles. Warriors, the pair of them.

What he has left are adequate individually but their sum-total as a three is not good enough. Of the ones he has, Pleggy is the one who you’d take into the trenches with you but he’s injured.

He doesn’t have the option of playing traditional full-backs in a 4 or 5 because he doesn’t have any. Edwards and McKenzie (who I know little about) are injured leaving him only with Sorinola, and Mumba, both of whom are attacking wing-backs rather than defenders.

We are in a desperate situation but it’s important armchair warriors don’t start picking the wrong targets . Cleverly has little or no choice who he picks in defence at the moment or in the formation he plays back there. We’re in League 1 and he needs at least one League 1 defender - a big, strong blood and snot type. Someone who’s commanding and demanding. Dan Scarr and Sonny Bradley would be ideal.

If it was me, based on what we’ve seen so far, I’d forget the No 9 and get two CB’s and maybe a DM. We’re scoring goals it’s letting them in at the other end that’s the problem.

Where do they get these refs and rules from? There were some very dodgy decisions in the Premier League this week end too.

I don’t know if you’re aware, but the rule makers in FIFA are considering a change whereby if a penalty is saved, you can’t score from the rebound. Why? Of all the things that anger fans, who asked them to even to look at that?

Would it be the same if it comes back off the woodwork? If not, why not?

It would then be consistent with penalty shoot-outs but those are things unto themselves. For a start, there’s the fundamental difference that in a shoot-out, only the penalty taker and the keeper can take. But then, the average fan could go an entire lifetime without seeing his club in a shoot-out but will see several penalties a year.
 
Their first two goals come from them hitting high balls into our LB position. The first Palsson heads it back into the penalty box when anywhere else would have done and for the second, Sorinola is up against someone twice his size.

That's never a penalty is it? Challenging for the ball and his arms have to be somewhere.

There IS contact when Wierdu goes down at the other end. You'll see 10x worse examples of diving in every game of every week. Ludicrous decision.

What a good pair of goals we scored though. If we can stop conceding soft ones, we'll be fine.

On that note, Alex Mitchell was asked what his play is in his "Welcome" interview. "Heading it and kicking it" is his reply. Just what we need.
