Watched it live here in Malta and played really well giving them plenty of problems. Think Mumba never expected the ball to get beside him suddenly and made contact without thinking but things happen. Deffo penalty and red card to me Bundu would have planted that. Plenty of positives there but need to take more of their chances. Wain seems weak on the ball and needs to be fed inside he box if we have to rely on him for several games. Nevertheless exciting times ahead and we will improve for sure but for the feeble refereeing anyone guess<doh>

The match is up on Argyle TV in short and extended highlights and the full 90 minute match.

There’s a lot of good football in that game and at least in the extended highlights version, it’s a very respectable away performance.

It’s a nailed on, glued down and welded shut trip and red card but not I think a penalty. Argyle go from their own penalty box to Bundu on the half way line in 3 quick passes and he’s off, trailing a defender behind him.

The defender tackles from behind just BEFORE Bundu enters the box. That’s deliberate for sure and he must have thought he’d taken one for the team. Bundu has no incentive to go down - he has the ball at his feet and the goal at his mercy from a pretty much head on position. No striker trying to get a regular start at a new team is going to pass that one up.

As Sensible will confirm sitting where he does, the officials have enough trouble keeping up with play to judge offsides in normal circumstances, let alone an attack that goes from one box to the other in a handful of seconds. It’s not good enough and when you suffer one like this, you do have a sudden wish for all that Premier League VAR palaver.

Once again we’ve played well and got nothing. Ipswich do have the numerical balance of the highlights but they’re at home and at the top of the league and you’d expect that. But it terms of quality and incisiveness it’s hard to tell the difference between the teams.

In truth though, we gave them two goals. Plym has mentioned the Mumba own goal. Cooper is one his knees ready to pick the gently rolling ball up with ease when Mumba slides in for a totally unnecessary block. That’s the way Mumba is: brimming with energy and enthusiasm which is sometimes not used wisely.

Their second comes from a weak and ill-advised back pass from Scarr, which puts the Ipswich striker through on goal. If necessary, it would have been easier and better to put it out for a throw and that is a rare mistake from the big man.

Gut wrenchingly disappointing because we played some good stuff again and kept battling right to the end with Captain Edwards getting a late goal. If we had turned out to be useless in this division it would be one thing. At least here there’s hope alongside the frustration.

I watched this live on argyle tv, played well enough great goal from Morgan unlucky with the own goal but they should have been shown a red and may be a penalty or just out side, from nothing given they go the other end and score . why would our player fall over when he was through and was just about to get his shot off,

These refs are not fit for this league , great teams in this league **** refs .. non league standard .. var soon i suspect

2 games now we have been robbed by shot refs.. if that was reversal we would be down to 10 in both games we didnt deserve to lose then we have 10 men

I have just watched the extended highlights. It makes me mad that these officials don't appear to have to answer for anything unless they cock up against the likes of Man City or Liverpool, The highlights show 3 or 4 different clear fouls that nothing is given for. The shirt pulling was blatant in one and it was infront of the lino at least. There was another wrestle to the ground after trying to remove the shirt first. The Ref was right there so there can be no excuse. The red was a red all day long as I said before and am saying again now. We have been playing 12 men for several games now.

In some ways, the people to blame are those who villainize referees for mistakes: managers, players and fans.

It’s led to constant fiddling with the rules which has made matters worse not better. VAR, 20 minutes of added time rather than penalising time wasting and now this laissez faire attitude where nothing but actual GBH gets penalised.

It’ll be the death of the game if we aren’t careful but we’re all a little to blame.

Exeter gave away a penalty for Middlesbrough's third and winning goal tonight for...................a shirt tug. Perhaps that Ref hasn't read the memo.

And I belatedly watched a bit of the Wolves v Newcastle Premier League game last night. The ref gave Newcastle a penalty for the slightest of contacts which in the slow motion replays showed itself to be as much manufactured by the “victim” as an actual foul. To me. If you deliberately put yourself in front of the challenge, it can’t be a foul. The commentators thought this had been “clever”.

The penalty award was reviewed by VAR but allowed to proceed because VAR can’t override the judgement of the referee. Only if there has been a fundamental error could they step in and even then, you rarely see a card for diving. That’s odd as if it’s not a penalty, then the most common reason is a dive. A defender would be sent off for illegally preventing a goal scoring opportunity: why is it not the same when an attacker tries to win one by diving?

What an inconsistent muddle it’s all become.

I believe one EPL game had a seven minute VAR delay recently.... yes seven. If you can't see it in 30 seconds, it's not there, get on with it.

I think we should do away with the off-side rule.....when decisions are being made that seem to need a micrometer to measure a thousand of an inch it becomes a farce.

If someone loiters around the goal area... then you might need to keep a defender back if we change the ruling to having no off-side....it used to be like that in days gone by.

That would do away with a lot of the VAR controversy straight away.
