Everything went swimmingly the last time we met. That is both literally and with the result. Think Bolton are probably a better team now than they were last term but then again so are we. Pray for a deluge..........

Reading elsewhere there seemed to be a lot of greens with shredded nerves....Bolton pressured us yet got nothing for it.....a second goal on 88 mins settled everyone down.

Argyle 5th in Div One.... 2pts a game at the moment.

We won this because we scored two and they didn’t. A tight, hard fought game between two decent sides that want to play football.

After 15 minutes, I didn’t think we’d do this. Their No 10 is quick and mobile and playing on Scarr produced all kinds of problems. For one reason or another, Bolton kept rotating their two strikers and gradually the threat was contained.

We never really dominated but neither did they: it was a slugging match which could have gone either way.

At the other end. Ennis was like a fly on a rhino compared to their giant No 5. But his nimbleness paid off. We still aren’t sure how he scored. Did he go around him or between his legs? Either way, he scored and that eased the tension Later. Hardie seemed to literally score through the keeper. It was a day when strikers made the difference.

We have issues. Too many passes went astray again and without that, we’d have cruised it. Look at as an upside: we can do better. Mumba was one of the culprits. As Stephen Schumacher has said about him particularly and generally, consistency matters. He’s a handful going forward but not strong defending. We looked better when he came over onto the right and Joe Edwards went onto his wrong foot on the left. Our best back 3 is Scarr, Wilson and Galloway. Again, we got there via substitutions. Lastly, Adam Randell. Not a sentence but an important truth. Must play.

S*** referee, another incomplete sentence but says it all.

A nervous afternoon In the sun but the Devonport End paid tribute the world’s most biased commentator, Gordon Sparks. Neil Warnock made the lottery draw and expressed his love for Argyle, which was reciprocated. We scored two and they didn’t.

Oh dear where would you even start with this one. That was a hard fought three points if ever there was one.

I am not sure how this ended two nil to us. They are a decent side and a very physical one. We rode our luck on probably more than one occasion throughout this encounter and yet we were the equal of everything that was thrown our way. If I were to try to give a MOM award for this game I would have to say it was either Ennis who ran his bollox off all game or Cooper who seemed to be in the way of waving everything they had to offer. We didn't play well or certainly as well as we could have. There again nor did Bolton but it made for a very frustrating and nerve wracking encounter. Their No;5 was a beast of a man. He marked Ennis throughout and he played him suberbly. EWhat the Bolton man lacks is pace and Ennis exploited that. He took his goal very well. He could have gone down in the box for a penalty and probably a red card for their defender. He didn't he stayed on his feet and rounded their Keeper for his reward. The second goal was another peach of pace versus lack of it. Hardie was too fast for them and finished very well indeed. How Bolton had not scored somewhere in between was a mystery and still is to me. Cooper somehow saved numerous attempts.

All in all this was a very very very good 3 points and we should be very happy tonight with them. The Ref was terrible but in some ways for both sides. The Lyndhurst lino was even worse with no redeeming features at all. He miss some blatant off sides and even worse their Keeper hndling the ball outside his box. He should have seen that a mile off but almost seemed to deliberately ignore it. That would have had to have been a straight Red card. I don't know what ?Bolton fans will be saying this evening but I think the result in the end was quite fair and they should have no complaints.
