The need for attention is astonishing. There's a common denominator in all these things
I bet you’ve had your hands around many guns Bell, there’s a lot of Arsenal fans in Basingstoke. When I was in Vegas, I visited one of the many gun ranges, and got my hands on an arsenal of fully and semi automatic weapons. You can, quite literally, get your hands on everything and anything out there (except nuclear and high-energy weapons). On the range next to me, there was a kid of around 16 or 17 having a go on a minigun, firing off rounds at the rate of around 70 per second. I would have had a go, except for the fact that, discarding the hire of the weapon, the ammunition cost around $200 per second!
Speaking to the guys who ran the range, I was told that more people carried guns in Vegas than Chicago. The gun culture is deeply ingrained into these people, and they are not fruitcake-CharltonHeston you'll-have-to-break-my-dead-fingers-before-I-give-up-my-gun types.
This type of incident is the price that most Americans seem prepared to pay in order to retain the right to bare arms.
I think that he just modified a few "normal" guns, judging by what I've read elsewhere. When I was in Vegas, I visited one of the many gun ranges, and got my hands on an arsenal of fully and semi automatic weapons. You mean he was Bullshitting?I think that he just modified a few "normal" guns, judging by what I've read elsewhere.
You can fire lots of ridiculous stuff at ranges, but actually owning it is prohibitively expensive and you have to jump through lots of hoops.
A few rifles that you can make fully automatic with a $20 piece of metal and a couple of tools? Much cheaper and easier.
Bumpfire stocks or handcranks seem to be popular suggestions right now, while few facts are available.
The variation in the rate of fire and the way that it accelerates and then drops off is quite odd and specific, apparently.
Fully automatic weapons would be more consistent.

No. Nothing that I said contradicted anything that HIAG posted. You mean he was Bullshitting?
I agree about the ammo thing, but I think that you might be confusing semi-automatic with fully automatic, HIAG.You can buy fully automatic assault rifles fairly easily in Arizona, California and Nevada (as well as many other States). They are not cheap, but certainly not beyond the means of anyone who holds down a regular decently-paid job.

Pull the trigger once and it fires once? Easy to get hold of and relatively affordable.
Hold the trigger down and it continues firing? Hard to get hold of, very expensive and in very limited supply.

He had "in excess of 10" rifles in his room, apparently. No confirmation on what they were or how many he actually used.Sorry, I may have misread what you wrote...
Yes, I think the gunman used at least one semi-auto rifle (going by what witnesses have been saying).
I don't think he used an automatic weapon. You would definitely be able to tell the difference.

Some talk of him being recently divorced and going on a gambling binge before the shooting.
His father was once on the FBI most wanted list too, allegedly.
Take all of this with a pinch of salt though, as the rumour mill tends to go a bit mental after one of these.
He was using automatic riflesIt's fairly ****ed up, whatever the truth may be, that's for sure, mate.
Even if he had a hunting rifle with .375 calibre ammo, he could do a lot of damage firing into a crowd, since a single round could cause a number of casualties.
Not in your sticky hands as you'd probably shoot yourself in the knackers given your penchant for pulling your weiner. It's fairly ****ed up, whatever the truth may be, that's for sure, mate.

Put Sky news on there's clear footage of the firing and it's definitely an automatic rifleHow do you know that?
From the video footage I have seen, and the several witness accounts I have read, this bears all the hallmarks of someone using, at most, a semi-automatic weapon (or a bolt-action rifle, if he's quick on the reload).
