I'd turn that round Josh and say will Rooney or Kane every be able to adapt to the game Vardy plays which is no. They are very one dimensional and if we are playing against bigger sides and need an outlet we'd be struggling with them two. It's not about international quality IMO it's about style of play. They are all different options and of Vardy keeps up his form, I think he'd be just as worthy of a place on the squad but only if he was used correctly in the right situations which would be those where Rooney and Kane will let us down

Depends on the system/formation England play Josh & no LCFC fan has picked him to play for England, Woy did. We are just enjoying the moment that a player playing for LCFC is in the squad after along old time mate.

Id he good enough for an England call up? On current form yes, but even if he scored 50 goals this season, he still wouldnt be picked before Harry Kane who might score 10.

England will do what they do best and scrape through the group stages playing mediocre posession football, then come up against a team that can out-posession them with a much better quality midfield. Dele Ali to me is much more alarm bells than Vardy is.

I dont think any of us are saying that he'll be picked for the euros, i could name you the exact strikers he will pick now, because you don't need to have form or a good season, just a high wage at your current club.

Sad but true - England seem to be more concerned about merchandise sales so pick players from the popular teams rather then those that can actually be a team that can win anything.

Serious answer - Yes because he already is one <laugh>

But a less frivolous answer would be along these lines - how many genuine world class players are there in the England squad? I'm struggling to name any other than perhaps Joe Hart, who I think is a very good and sometimes underrated keeper. On that basis alone Vardy deserves consideration, given that he is after all the top scorer (or at least top English goalscorer) in the EPL this season - and his two finishes against Arsenal and Petr Cech show that he is more than capable of finishing against the best if he gets goalscoring chances.

Do I think he should go to the Euros? - yes - because he gives you something very different to the current English crop of forwards - he is close to Theo Walcott in terms of raw pace but is far more agressive / combative and will defend from the front. He is less likely to get injured than the sick notes that are Wellbeck and Sturridge (he will also outscore the former on any given day). He is far more mobile than Rooney or Harry Kane - and we wil not progress in the tournament by slow build up and attempting to outpass teams with far greater technical ability. Where we might acrtually have a chance of progressing beyond the group is if we adopt a counter attacking, more direct, style, utilising the pace of players like Walcott and Vardy.... but I fear Woy will persist with the woeful combination (in international terms) of Rooney up front with Milner aimlessly lobbing balls towards him that will invariably result in opposition possession ... Vardy will be a very good option later on in games when defences are fatigued ...

BUT ... Vardy is completely wasted being played out wide left (or indeed right) - he needs to be running in behind central defenders ... so either use him properly or don't mess him about.

Can anyone tell me why Danny Ings is in the England squad? No? The answer is, because he now plays for Liverpool!!!!!

Why didn't Charlie Austin get a game last season when he was banging in goals in the Prem? Answer: Because he didn't play for a top 6 side!!

That is why Jamie Vardy won't go to France next year, even if he scored 25 prem goals this season.

It is probably why Woy plays JV out of position, because if he played him down the middle and he banged in a few goals, Woy would have to drop someone who plays for a, so called, top club!

If you're not playing for the big boys, you may as well give up!!!!!

Well this is in part true. England players are recommended to ``` PLAY FOR A BIGGER CLUB.```
Lets be silly & say that Cahill, Jagielka or Sterling sign for Watford (sorry WFC no offence). Will they still be looked at in the same way come June ?

... in fairness, it wouldn't matter to me who Cahill signs for <laugh> ... Jagielka is marginally preferrable to 'Lurch' but both are highly vulnerable against better sides ...

Sterling? ... great dancer ... awful passer of a football <laugh>

You do make good points. I was just generally interested in seeing the level of player that you guys think he is. I personally believe our only top quality striker is Sturridge and he is just recovering from injury. Rooney is up there when on form as well but he has been poor for the national side now for years. Kane to me is incredibly one dimensional, I don't think he is good enough, he has had one decent season and he was next to useless before that, he's added goals but his general all round play isn't great at all imo. Vardy is a good choice to have but on the face of it I think Walcott is a better player and I wouldn't say you have enough room in the squad for both. Then you consider that Walcott is effective out wide as well whereas Vardy isn't then for me thats how he loses his place in the squad. He needs to now show consistency until Euros if he does that then I think he should be taken.

Hopefully Vardy will kick on and continue his current form and keep banging them in!

From @henrywinter What a season for Vardy. Works hard for England out wide but is wasted there. Far more menacing through middle as he keeps showing for #lcfc

Seems we all know this except for Woy FiF.

Rooney (of MU) / Kean (of TOT) looks better on paper than, Vardy (of LEI) & one of the fore mentioned.
England ain´t about wanting to win it´s about trying to look strong on paper. All the teams that qualified for the EC are going to be wanting to see Kean (of TOT) on the team sheet, well it´ll be 1 less for them to worry about.
You can bet 100% if it was Shearer (of NU), Lineker (of TOT or BARCA), Cole (of MU) or Owen (LIV) on 9 prem goals this season they´d be no Q as to whether they´ll be in the starting XI or not.
Must say I can´t be ****ed with England any way...unless JV plays that is.

I think unless there is injuries then Vardy won't go to the Euro's regardless of how many goals he scores because Roy will stick with his favourites. If all the strikers are fit the 4 we take will be Rooney, Sturridge, Kane and Welbeck

... can't agree Proud ... Wellbeck has never topped EPL scoring charts ... Woy would look a complete dick if he doesn't take Vards IF (and here's the rub) IF he continues in the same vein ... Woy will be very aware that the first headline to be written if our usual goal shyness in competition play exhibits will be why the hell he didn't at least take the country's top scorer with him? ... one thing for definite, John Cross of The Mirror should now publicly eat the biggest portion of humble pie ever consumed by a fat prat <laugh>

Welbeck scored 4 goals all season the other year but was a regular starter for England, why? Because he played for Manchester United
It will be the same now, he will get in because he plays for Arsenal along as he proves his fitness

Just wanted to pop in and say that Vardy is brilliant, I love this style of player and others could learn a lot from him.

Why is he scoring so many? Simple really, head over the ball and ****ing smash it. Football can be so simple.
