Are you happy if it takes 3/4 minutes to reach a decision and if it's happening multiple times a game? That's way too long imo.
No, but it wont, at least not once everyone has gotten to grips with it. Do you remember when they changed the offside rule in football? I bet it was anarchy for a while then too.
I think that needs revisiting imo and is a great example of something that VAR won't solve as the interfering with play bollocks is down to interpretation not set in stone.
it is pretty much set in stone it is just totally counter intuitive & lots of decisions are made based on old versions of the rules..
Interfering with play "A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by: interfering with play by playing or touching a ball passed or touched by a team-mate or interfering with an opponent by: preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent’s line of vision or challenging an opponent for the ball or clearly attempting to play a ball which is close to him when this action impacts on an opponent or making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball or gaining an advantage by playing the ball or interfering with an opponent when it has: rebounded or been deflected off the goalpost, crossbar or an opponent been deliberately saved by any opponent A player in an offside position receiving the ball from an opponent who deliberately plays the ball (except from a deliberate save by any opponent) is not considered to have gained an advantage. told you it was total bollocks.
I agree ... VAR has got teething troubles admittedly and I don't understand the delay ... but I'd much rather my side went out to a 'correct' decision than a wrong one ... and VAR will help to erode the Big Team 'benefit of the doubt' bias that has undoubtedly pervaded the game for many a year ... I'd prefer it to be more like Rugby - the match official doesn't really need to see the replay himself - just needs to ask "any reason that I can't give the goal?" On this one the response would have been "Mata was offside, so no goal - plus the decision will piss Matth off and serve him right for not supporting his home town team"
You don't know that though, they might get more reviews etc. And let's wait and see how many United players are booked for asking for reviews and putting pressure on...
A big fan of VAR...once it's had its teething issues it will be a positive for the game. All this it takes too long is rubbish..no longer than players hounding the refs and challenging a decision the ref has already made. Now that's a waste of time, trying to change the refs mind. Mic the refs up and it will help immensely
It's run by old romantic fools like Brb who think a good old fight is par for the course if you are going to watch a game of football They are a dieing breed thank ****
^^^^ this ^^^^ On the money - those complaining about the time delays seem to be forgetting how long it takes for non VAR controversial decisions to resume play - particularly when each 'galactico' feels the need to come and have their two penny worth at the ref or lino
nah it's seriously ****. Just look at the mata decision (that was a tight call and who knows when it stops whether that is actually when the ball was kicked). They should have said inconclusive kept it to the original decision. They used it in the previous round for chelsea (not the norwich game) when the defender wins the tackle nice and cleanly against our attacker and its a corner and we'd been putting the pressure on for like 5 minutes. They decide to VAR it, it took 2/3 minutes and suddenly everyones had a nice breather and the whole atmosphere has gone flat. Also pen decisions are subjective. Just look at when Willian got booked against Norwich.
Each to their own ... obviously if VAR had existed back in 1997 then cheating cnut, Erlund Johnsen would have been sent off for this - and Chelsea might not have won an FA Cup ... can see why you are not in favour mind
Plus if called offside but VAR shows was onside tough **** so you still aint getting correct decision.
