I was reading the reports in the papers this morning and, from what I can make out, it's the referee that has to go to view the monitor. There's a fourth official which appears to do nothing other than to hold up the Time Remaining score and to, on occasion, get into scraps with the managers in order to liven up the game. Shouldn't he be doing this and then reporting to the referee via microphone. This should be relayed onto the big screen and also the audio feed and then the game can progress. I can't see how it can slow the game down. If the ball is in the back of the net then if there's a need to check the VAR then do so, there's no disruption. If a player goes down in the box then the fourth official should be looking at the replay whilst the game is continuing and if there's a decision to be made then inform the ref who will then review the situation the next time the ball goes out of play. Done properly it should be no more disrupting than rugby and it will sort out all of the issues of was it a goal, was it a dive, was the man five yards offside and so on.
According to an Announcement Last Friday, club sources say that not putting Gayle out on a loan was akin to "getting one in over the line".
