Not sure why he needs to say anything on Twitter. The papers have not misquoted him or anything. Its up to the club to put an offer that can get him to sign a new contract. But if in the end he wants to leave, then thank you for the service and goodbye.
He's almost 29, if he wants to leave as a 31 year old for £30m then I don't see why not. As long as his replacement is as good (be hard to find). Joel Campbell looks good though...
Also i do not like this talk of us letting him down by not winning much. We have stuck by him for years despite his injuries. So its a two way street on that front.
I don't think that we will need him after all RM has not bought any player that was over 28 yrs old. Yes I know that Owen Hargreaves is 30 but that was a free transfer, and he only gets paid when he plays. My feeling is that it will depend on whether Carlos is still here in January, or if Corinthains coming back with a bid for Carlos. If they do I forsee that RM will be back in for 1 of those he misssed during the summer window.
It is amazing how fans see things through rose tinted glasses and refuse to face facts When ronaldo was pushing to go, he used all sorts of ways to do it as he didn't want to upset the fans if he stayed. Man United fans refused to believe it when i said he wanted to leave. The same with Nasri, it was obvious he was going to leave UNLESS Arsenal paid what City was offering him and Arsenal had said NO. RVP is not going to say "I want to leave" is he? By running down his contract to 1 year, it makes it virtually impossible for the club to sell him at a high price and he has the upper hand. He could ask a huge rise in salary as other clubs will be prepared to pay his asking salary as his purchase price will be low. Remember Sol Campbell? He sprung the surprise when he became free.I am not saying RVP will be doing the same but it does look a familiar story if people are willing to look at it objectively. If you were near the end of your career and you could play for a club which could win trophies as well as paying you a fortune, would you say no?
And as i said earlier if he goes it wont be for peanuts and we can attract a player of his quality or better.
You need to read my post. please log in to view this image While I alluded to the loyalty that is mutual I also did add that he was seeking reassurances from the club.
LOL the ****ing guy who said he would NEVER return to Manchester, strange I'm sure I saw him in a city shirt?
He's just the kind of player that will be able to play at the highest level for a good 6 or more years.(injury permitting) Like Inzaghi, Berkamp, De Natalie, Zola etc.. Van Persie doesnt rely on his athleticsm to score goals he's an intellegent player with superb vision and technique. If we sold him in a year we may well miss his best years as a player. I hope we keep hold of him. (but knowing wengers strategy I doubt we will)
The OP is obviously a WUM and if not, an idiot. RVP has TWO years on his contract and absolutely no need to negotiate now.
Looks like Tevez will be on his way so we are going to be in the market for a new striker RVP may be high on the list. .
Nope. but it does mean that your top scorer refused to come on for you and lets face it, most of City's players are there for the large sums of money they receive and don't give a toss about the club.
FFS take the rose tinted specks off, the days of players likes of Giggs, Scholes etc who spend many years at the same club have long gone, (how many PL players in the top clubs have been with the team more than 8 years) We have a new breed of badge kissing footballers who love the club until a better deal comes along, RVP will no doubt be the next.
