Have to be good in the EPL, is a crappy argument for saying if a player is good or not. Both leagues are very difficult, in different ways. La Liga better imo, for the way they play football. Don't want a EPL vs La Liga debate though, far too many haha.

Villa has proved himself in lower-placed teams in the La Liga a few times as well being one of the best Internationally for Spain.

    No it isn't?

If you want to really know which players are the best, they need to be really tested. The EPL is the most difficult test there is, due to more teams having far more money than La Liga. Barcelona and Real Madrid are two of the best clubs in the world, but beyond that, the quality dwindles rapidly, so it's easier for better teams.

There are two factors which will decide how good a striker is: 1). how good he is as a player and 2). the quality of the defences he faces. If Ronaldo and Messi can bag 53 goals in a season, then I can be confident enough to say that they're the best in the world. However, when you step down a notch and compare players (like RVP and Villa), I'd have to see a little more evidence before I could make my mind up.

Premier League is all about strength and power, and who can boot the ball furthest up the pitch to the big men. La liga is more about skills with the ball at feet and passing (I prefer this personally). The lower placed teams in the La Liga have consistently proved that they are better then lower placed Prem teams as well.

Factor 2 - La Liga defence is better this year, the 20 teams have conceded 35 less then the Premier League.

    What about comparing Internationally?
Van Persie is miles behind Villa.
    Compare Champions League?
Van Persie has scored 15 since 2003 while Villa has scored 14 since 2005.
