In theory, for instant success, Jose is the man. He knows the league better than most still in the game, he will set up a siege mentality and if the players buy into it, they will be very good but if it backfires, you get what's just cost him his job, again. So if we fancy 2 or 3 trophies in quick succession followed by chaos, then great. I wanted a longer term view, but that's not really realistic anymore, is it.
Varela has looked dodgy as hell the two times I've now seen him. Positionally unaware. Keeps coming inside and leaves space down the channels. Can't tackle on the run either although that could be coached.
I am not saying that the players actions were at the same level as the chavs. The latter downed tools and did not give enough. United's almost exaggerated LVG's demands. For example the play became extremely boring, rigid to an nth degree, possession was extreme, record sideways and backward passes. In the end, it was obvious to everyone but the most blind fan that he has to leave as the results deserted him.
It's not Williams that's the problem, it's the doughnut alongside him. He'd be good buy for us, more ready to slot right in than Stones. Stones remains promising, we've got promising. What we need is finished article and a leader/organiser. Am I missing something regarding Guardiola by the way? Where's the announcement he's going to City? Would ANY manager announce they were going to manage another club that still has a manager in place? Let alone someone who appears a decent man.
There is very little chance of the stability we have enjoyed in the past ever happening again. Mourinho is no different than Pep in his staying power, he does seem to cause less damage tough. I have serious doubts about Pep, these may be completely wrong as they are only based on the fact he has (like Mourinho) walked away from teams as they start to age instead of refreshing them and keeping them at the top.
You couldn't be more wrong. The alleged problem is the majority shareholder shagging one of the players wives
With Pep, I look a his Barcelona EAM and who followed him and se only old thongs. In some cases, managerial nobodies, came in and achieved crazy success. I know its harsh to call them nobodies but in this sense, they were. His methods are still in play today. Jose leave clubs that require Rafa Benitez to come in and clean them up. This is terrifying I suspect Bayern will be well placed for years while Chelsea.... Will yoyo for years. I would rather Pep every time. Jose will be hilarious for a while though. He will be ln the war path but it will get boring and cost us eventually.
Nah, 2 games in a defence torn to pieces and the usual midfield pairing in front missing. I have seen enough to think he could be ok as back up.
Bayern and City are the type of club to do it. Bayern announced Pep while Heynecks was still in charge and he apparently wanted another year, but was pushed aside. City, well, its City.
You know my views on Mourinho, but I think this thing about him being boring is overplayed a bit. Yes he was at Chelsea, but at Real Madrid they played expansive attacking football while being solid defensively. Wouldn't we want that at United?
Found this on a different site tonight. It's also been discussed on a few other Swansea forums too. "Ive been for a pint tonight with some Swans ITKs and this is the situation. There is major drama there which as always comes down to women and money, on a few levels. Martin Morgan, a big shareholder, was bumming Nathan Dyers wife and it became knowledge. Shes left him, and Morgans mrs has left him. This is apparently knowledge because it has been cited in official uncontested court divorce papers filed in London. This was why Dyer got sold in the summer, and this is what has given the players the hump. Monk has had to come down on the side of the management and ownership, and this has annoyed the players more. Therein lies the problem of having an explayer as boss, they see him as one of theirs and he has had to become all corporate. He does not have the management respect in that respect. As a result, the players are behaving like ****s. Like Ashley Williams kicking off publicly and Shelvey going home in a strop at being named sub Huw Jenkins has no alternative other than to bring in someone who can try to get a grip on this, and has agreed with Garry Monk that a change is needed He didnt want to do this today (or tuesday) as it was his big day, he has been up to Buck Palace to get an OBE and didnt want anything to overshadow that He and Brenda have remained on very good terms and he has asked Brenda to come back and take over, and Brenda has kind of agreed. But Brenda is in family court himself this week in London finalising his own divorce from that thing he used to be married to. He is worried that he cant take a job at the moment as she will want some of the contract agreement." http://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/threads/swanseas-monk-sacked-merged.317441/page-4
He's shown lots of promise but also lacks consistency. That will decrease with game time. As back up he should get that game time.
He did for a period at Real but he also got his defensive style in. He's the type that would sabatage the team to make a point. Remember that Barcelona game? Jose demonstrated in his own way, why Real Madrid, needed to purchase a route master. Sent them out with suicidal tactic's. I believe he knew exactly what he was doing. Of course, with the talent he had, attacking football was never far away. We don't have that quality. And will Jose play the likes of Martial at all? Or will Rooney and Drogba be our attack?
