I'll only be concerned when there's less than a month of the window left. Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, City will be buying steadily and players will become available. There'll be at least one £10 million + player & a £5 million + to come My money's on Welbeck being one of them.
I'm not concerned, just a wee bit frustrated. I'd love to see them all having a preseason together. Can't say I'd be overly enthusiastic about Wellbeck if I'm honest. I think we have enough centre forwards and if we want a wide player we should just buy one.
My reasoning is that if a decent offer comes in for Wickham the club will let him go ....... they won't let him do a 'Colback'.
Baz Last Season = pessimistic twat Baz next season = pessimistic twat Baz in general = pessimistic twat
They wont, even if he has a blinder and still wont sign during the season we get our dosh back, think he'll take a new contract, just waiting to see who we sign is my guess
We had him on loan a few years back under Sven, going forward he was decent but defensively quite crap. That was a long time ago now so he might have developed further
Chelsea defender completes £1.5m Sunderland move 8:07pm Friday 25th July 2014 in Sport By Paul Fraser, Chief Football/Golf Writer GUSTAVO POYET has completed the signing of Dutch defender Patrick van Aanholt and he will join Sunderland in Portugal after progress was finally made on the transfer front. Van Aanholt was on Wearside today to sign a four-year deal after moving from Chelsea for a fee believed to be around £1.5m. Poyet and a squad of 20 players landed at Faro airport yesterday ahead of ten days in the Algarve where the Black Cats will play three friendlies. Sunderland have struggled to strengthen this summer, with the exception of free agents Costel Pantilimon, Billy Jones and Jordi Gomez. Bids to take Marcos Alonso and Fabio Borini back from from Fiorentina and Liverpool respectively have failed so far, so Poyet has started to look in other areas while they wait on progress. Van Aanholt, 23, was keen to leave Chelsea after struggling to force his way into Jose Mourinho’s plans and the Dutch left-back will provide the pace Poyet is looking to add down that flank. Chelsea prefered to sell rather than loan him for the season, although the move does not necessarily mean the end of Poyet’s interest in Alonso. Sunderland are also pursuing Atletico Madrid’s Cristian Rodriguez. £1.5m is a snip! Congerton connections bearing fruit, chelsea feeder club will do me like, lukaku on loan anyone???
I was thinking no more then 2.5m. Very happy if 1.5m is correct, we've still spent nowt and I reckon there's a marquee signing to come yet.
The encouraging thing is that this obviously hasn't just happened over the last few days since the Alonso deal cooled. The club are working on addressing the shortages in the squad and not going for the obvious. I'd be interested to see who the 'Borini replacement' is
