best keeper in the league IMO, at least in the top 3. admittedly there is a complete lack of quality keepers in this league but still. what seperates him from the pure shot stoppers at other poor teams in this league is that he rarely makes mistakes (etoo apart ) and wins points for the team. what do you reckon he'd be worth if we had to sell him if we go down?
Very hard to say to be honest. If I had to say by the end of the season I'd estimate around 7 - 10 mil
Marshals value varies , to a midsize club 3 million cause they don't really need him , to a big club 6 million decause even though they probably don't need him either they have money , to a team fighting relegation with about a third of the season left --PRICELESS !
Maximum 3 or 4 mill. Very good shot stopper as we all know, distribution awful, Look at Marshall compared to the Arsenal keeper and you will see what i mean. When was the last time Marshall threw one out towards the half way line. He is to indecisive for a big club and he has found his level with us.
That has to be one of your tongue in cheek comments you make Dai. Marshall would be a solid addition for any club outside the top 8. I don't think we would get more than 6 million for him because of his distribution, but any club that did buy him for 6 million would end up thanking him for the 8 or more points he would gain them over the season. Without Marshall this season, we would probably have about 16 points!
no im serious...one or two fantastic saves dont make you a great keeper does it....He has not been consistent enough as that is why you are where you are...
I think you're overrating him slightly there mate. He's probably around the middle if you ranked the prem goalies from 1 - 20. He's worth more to you than you'd get for him if you sold him though.
Marshal has done it for Cardiff all season , big saves when almost all is lost . One of those "Inspiring players" that get a team righted late in a game when you watched him save your ass a few times .
Dai, one or two sensible comments would help us take you a little more seriously. Sadly, your consistency is in talking utter bollox. Marshall has made more than a hundred saves this season, many, many of the. From the top drawer. His weakness, as pointed out several times in this thread, is his distribution.
To the outside observer, Marshall has been far and away Cardiff's POTY so far. In a league full of good keepers, he has been a stand-out
Agree with this, I'm trying to see Marshall from a neutral's perspective and I can understand why they don't value him as high as we do.. If our team could defend (score goals would be a bonus also ) Marshall would have countless clean sheets under his belt - Though most goals this season have been due to poor defending, Marshall has been an absolute rock for the team.
Marshall is the best keeper in the PL. He will be sold in the summer and anything under £10m would be robbery.
your crap was so wide of the mark there was no other way that would have sufficed..... thank f**k you arent in charge of selling the players, whilst you're at it lets get rid of caulker for £2m...... thats more like it hilts.......
Has been outstanding for us for a long time now, not just the odd few games. As for distrubution, he has started to play it from the back, but is most probably not trusting the back 4 as much as he should be able to. Agree with Hilts, £10 million would be my bottom price.
People criticise his distribution but that is also down to other players not getting into good areas to receive the ball.
