Sven did bring in some very good players he but he couldnt build us a team Ricardo, Kasper Schmeichel, Kyle Naughton, John Pantsil, Curtis Davies, Sean St. Ledger, Matt Mills, Sol Bamba, Jeff Bruma, Ben Mee, Patrick Van Aanholt, Greg Cunningham, Paul Konchesky, Michael Johnson, Gelson Fernandes, Neil Danns, Diomansy Kamara, Yakubu, Jermaine Beckford, David Nugent, Darius Vassell If you can sign players like them you expect alot better then what we got. On paper that should walk this divison but for whatever reason Sven couldnt get them playing as a team or playing to their potential
You have to say that the failure if Mills and Beckford cost Sven his job. Beckford was a panic buy when we had the whole summer to bring someone in, we just seemed to be obsessed with Maynard. Mills was odd, because he was signed early on, but the transfer figure was crazy. That signing probably helped get Reading promoted (a nice cash injection) and did damage to us, mainly because of Mills' attitude and disciplinary record.
