Well as I truly believe we currently have a future England international if not Captain in our ranks, I'm going to stick my neck out and say Jonny Howson, only time will tell of course Going a lot further back it's got to be Martin Peters !
Here's a few names that we cartainly got value for money from. I know these are outside the 15 year period mentioned, but we did get some bargains. Ian culverhouse 50k Ian Butterworth 160k Bryan Gunn 100k Mike Phelan 60k Kevin Drinkell 90k
Bradley Johnson Cost £0 Contribution Hundreds of Miles Therefore, an excellent value-for-money signing!
Malky was pretty good value. When you consider he and Flem (who was more expensive, but still decent value) cost us less than a million combined, that's a great bit of business! Just to add to that, Mark Bowen cost us 90k! 140k for both Culverhouse and Bowen!! The world of footbal was a very different place, wasn't it?
PLayers that have come through the youth system and cost feck all and then we sold them for millions. Sutton, Fashanu, Ruel Fox etc etc Signed but for nothing, and they cleaned up
If I put my negative hat on, the best signing was the deal to take Eadie to Leicester. Brilliant for us, but injuries were already starting to catch up, so £3 million was a really good deal for us. Not so much for Leicester. Terrible shame for such a fantastic talent to have to finish so early.
Come on guys, put your thinking caps on. There was a club before the last three seasons. He said 15 years. Not 15 months.
neil adams was a pretty good deal if i recall. scored buck-loads of goals from out wide and great penalty taker. unforgettable commentary for jackson's winner vs derby too!
Darren Beckford 900K ? We were in for him and Robbie Earle at the time. The Wombles offered Earle more money and we ended up with Beckford . We certainly drew the short straw there
