Looks like a great signing I'm hoping he has a much better passing range and more creativity then our current central midfielders, who by all accounts do a superb job! But we just miss that type of technical player in the centre of the pitch.
The way the club have been talking, he's a replacement for Fer, but McGrandles could potentially be a replacement for Surman (or Pilks). From the Falkirk forums, McGrandles is best played in a central attacking role, making him cover for Hoolahan. Seeing as Surman doesn't really fit anywhere else in a 4-2-3-1, and Vadis, O'Neil and Howson should be more than enough cover in defensive midfield roles, I'm struggling to see how Surman is going to get much game time. Would seem mighty harsh to bring him back into the fold then send him away again, so perhaps Adams does see a need for him.
I remember reading somewhere that Adams said it was decision time for Surman. Either he signs a new contract or goes to Bournemouth. That's how I remember reading it at the time. No news on a new contract, but no news of a potential sale either!
I reckon surman will go now he can't play for Bournemouth against us. He's always said that regular football is important to him. He's not going to get it here best for everyone that he moves on.
That's what I was thinking max but it involves dropping Jonno and Wes both have been very good so far.
Plenty of rotation options in the midfield, but looking forward to see Odjidja in midfield alongside Tettey with Redmond outside him and perhaps McGrandles taking the Pilks role on the other side. Plenty of good options on the bench then too.
While Tettey has been brilliant, I genuinely think BJ has been undroppable. Even in quiet matches his positioning is superb. He makes things tick. I'd say Odjidja is competing with Tettey for that dynamic box to box role, not with Johnson
All we need now is a quality defender, which will allow us to utilise only one DM, rotating Tetty and Johnson. This allows for a five man attack, rather than our current four, and with the pace we now have among the contenders for those five places the future is yellow. Snodgrass, who he?
I think both Johnson and Wes will be under a bit of pressure with the new recruits - Both have been excellent this season too. I think this will be healthy competition for starting places which can only be a good thing for NCFC. Could be worse problems to have.
If anything, I think that this year's squad is actually stronger than last year's. If NA can keep them playing the way they are and trying to score goals, then I can see the good days returning to CR with the entire crowd getting behind the team. Today's match is going to be immense and I'm gutted I can't be there!
