At least you have a reasonable chance of getting one or the other of the vaccines available, whereas here in Canada the chances of getting the jab before the end of summer look fairly low. I suppose it's only fair that the citizen's of the country developing the vaccine should get first jabs and although we have firm orders in place with all of the proposed manufacturers we get pushed to the back because we do not have a pharmaceutical industry as such and the home crowd take priority. Stay safe and get the jab folks.
I won't be going anywhere near it even though I've hit the 6th decade...not interested and don't believe this virus is as dangerous as it's made out...rather take my chances...Is it selfish on a vaccine that's hardly been proven and only just been released?...............Wise would be a better word me thinks!!
This is an interesting one - and one I've thought about quite a lot. Is the virus REALLY killing all these people? The stats are flawed, but do they loosely represent reality at all?
If you have terminal cancer - and then get diagnosed with COVID - but then die of your cancer then it's recorded as a COVID death.
If you are diagnosed with COVID then get knocked down by a bus on your way home from the test then its a COVID death
Same with the elderly in care homes - if they die after being diagnosed with COVID it's a COVID death.
Basically, if you die after being diagnosed as having COVID then its registered as a COVID death. This is distorting the figures. WHATEVER kills you, if you have COVID then its a COVID death.
HOWEVER - If you have treatable cancer - but can't get the treatment because we are in lockdown and it ends up killing you, its a CANCER death.
Without trying to be off-hand about what is clearly a horrible disease - I'm not convinced that it's bad enough to warranty all the mental, physical and economic hardship that the recent lockdowns and restrictions are causing.
Strangely, for me the strongest indicator for me that it MIGHT BE really worth the draconian lockdown measures is the fact that it's a conservative government. The Tories are all about making money, so it's unlikely that they would force us into economic ruin if it wasn't absolutely necessary - unless of course the politicians or their families have shares in Pfizer - or PPE manufacturers, Amazon, or a farm that produces Scotch Eggs (yes really - https://www.msn.com/en-gb/foodanddr...l-meal-row/ar-BB1bwj6c?ocid=spartan-ntp-feeds).
Anyway, much as I think they have handled it terribly, the vaccine is great news and I too can't wait for some sort of normality to return.

They've had to go with it though as it's a safe option all round, they also have to follow it through even though there is no evidence lockdown and tier systems work The opposition view is exactly the same, in fact they would have unnecessarily locked down sooner....It's a no brainer TBF to the Conservatives
That's interesting as those that are more likely to spread the virus are secondary school pupils and Uni students....
So it's self protection rather than keeping it contained!!
40 million is enough for 20 million as you have to have 2 jabs 21 days apart.
Care homes first then the carers and then NHS frontline.
Then it will come down in ages, but if you’ve any health issues you get bumped up a few notches.
not an exact science unless the MHRA defines how to break down packages of pzifer stuff then wastage of 5% is possible! so above 19 million people !
Different ways to express how it will be administered have been forward.. rule of thumb is first tranche puts over 80's /NHS /care homes/ carers in a group … first over 80 likely to be next Tuesday /Weds
care homes may not be until after Christmas [ depends on MHRA ruling ] Only 800,000 doses available at present! … need to know when 2nd batch is safely delivered ..
After first 30k have been done hopefully the next batch will be "in stock" every third week you need to double the number of doses administered 3 weeks prior [ or add to that total and have cover for 3 weeks hence ! ] etc etc
of course the OXFORD ONE MAY GET PASSED NEXT WEEK then a totally different kettle of fish! .gov is keeping it simple! go with what is available , stay within supply chain, waste not want not!
Emily Morgan ITV reporter had yoghurt all over her face … Tam lambasted her for her thoughtless question at 5pm news conference .. [ she hadn't listened to what Sir Simon or Lam had at pains laid out about the difficulties in keeping it cold or MHRA was still finalizing distribution techniques ] ] slapped her down and said "we are not talking yoghurt here, you cant take out and put back in fridge a few times …" On news at 630 she had changed her attitude and embraced the challenges!

Pfizer being an American owned company, the FDA approve things faster than majority of other countries by a long way before our MHRA. Seems strange we’ve approved this one really quickly and the first to get an order in.
No one knows how long we will be immune for.
I did get told today that part of the delays in the development was the pharma companies wanted immunity from any potential side affects claims

to have the side effects you would need an injection, so to have the side effect.. your self portrait .. you could only have got the injection as a test dummy / volunteer!
No point likely the side effects are deep reaching and worse than they believe they are.. maybe safer should we decide to not have to have a jab!
