Cheers for the thread 3rd eye I raced back from Devon to see the match (and left an "understanding" wife sitting in the car for the duration of the game!) Wycombe came with a game plan which was to stop Ronan Curtis and Jamal Lowe by any means, and succeeded in the first half. Morris scored an excellent goal for them. In the second half we played better, competing with them physically, and scored two nice headed goals both from Jamal Lowe crosses. We could have scored more. Late penalty for Wanderers scored by Jacobson. Main gripe was the shocking referee who appeared to have lost control of the game, and who should have booked Ryan Allsopp for his continuous time wasting throughout the game (apart from when they were trailing 2-1 !!). The 5 minutes added on after 90 minutes were probably all down to his antics Still unbeaten though after 9 league matches, so on to the next game..... PS. I do like "The Beast" - Adebayo Akinfenwa - what a player he is
Just a quick one from a Wycombe supporter at the game was the ref trying to even up the bookings four for us inthe first half & three for POmpey in the second. It just seems strange all ours came in the first 45mins & all yours in the second 45mins
Really - should a Ref be looking to even up the bookings? Wouldn't it be better if he was just consistent? People who were there are saying he was piss poor for both sides so at least that was even.
Once we go 2-1 up, we need to be hard nosed. Get the ball back from the opposition, take it into the opposition half and play towards the corner flags. Great teams do this in tight situations. Ball retention poor that led to their penalty. Great to see Jamal Lowe involved in the goals. One of the best players in the división.
Looking at the table, you feel the promotion and play-off teams will come from the top 7 as things currently stand. I feel the team that comes first will get around 88 points. There isn´t a Wigan or Blackburn who really dominated last year. But there are good teams and it will be competitive. 1 to 8 will be a lot closer this year.
