we are a poor side and those are two of the best! do you think throwing a pretty pattern on a piece of paper and saying go on lads will mean we can play like weve been trained how to play that way for months on training ground ? we have no reason to change we can pick up enough points in the next 4 games and build up some confidence and then consider changing if we are in 1. a position to or 2. we simply must.

wolves are a very good passing side that have been coached and drilled into a passing system for years now! we cannot match that by moving players around and 1 week of playing that system in training. This is not the time to roll the dice it's the time to see if we can do well vs a run of teams around us.

I don't subscribe to either of those sides being two of the best. Chelsea aren't that great and Man U were missing at least 5. Both are better than us, mind, so I get what you're saying, but we've played sides "in and around us" and were VERY lucky to get 2 points from Norwich, Brighton and Watford.

I'm not talking about pretty patterns. What I'm looking at is our problems, which include:

1. Isolated striker.
2. Outnumbered in midfield.
3. ASM running out of steam.
4. Ineffectual Almiron
5. Very, very low shots on target.

What I'm proposing is going with two up front, including ASM, to address (1) & (3), putting Almiron in midfield to sort (2) & (4) and just changing it slightly whilst retaining the majority of the defensive shape to try and influence (5).

Tottenham AWAY
Chelsea AWAY
Leicester AWAY
Liverpool AWAY

man united
arsenal

6 of our 9 games we would expect to lose

we've played 3 winnable games so i'd argue 9 points would be great start and oh we have 8 !

You know nothing about football and that's the main issue ! then you have no memory !!!you're both like a bee at window and will clearly never remember anything!

this is the same argument as we had this time last year! we had a tough first quarter of fixtures and people starting saying rafa needs to change this and change that !, however he stuck to his game plan and low and behold we started picking up points and went on from there, while other managers panicked around him.. I have explained the reasons . You're explanations are based on a fantasy formation you have slapped together in your mind and you are not using any common sense ! sadly that's not how things work at this level .

ps we also went into the easier fixtures with a better goal difference than those around us and it counted as a point all season , however because bruce tried a different system vs Norwich and Leicester we got thumped and now go into the easy fixtures with a worse goal difference than those around us

have a nice day

Just discussing on a forum. I've no idea why you'd get so irate.

I'm going to agree with the 3-5-2 suggestion, but also propose a different train of thought; both Longstaffs are solid defensively, like a tackle and can get about a bit. But they lack experience and are often outnumbered. However, the answer is not to put another DM alongside them - my proposal would be to drop Almiron in there as an outlet in the middle. He doesn't mind working hard, has pace to burn and just isn't a winger; then I'd put Yedlin right, Willems left and go with a front two of ASM & Joelinton. I think Joelinton would be relieved to have a partner, and I reckon ASM could stay fitter for longer if he's up the pitch rather than up and down the line. I think Almiron can do a solid job as sort of a Kieron Dyer style No.8. He can pop shots off from distance, take the game forward and I think it would be a great tactic to try, and Bruce is familiar with it.
I don’t want Almiron doing tea pot impressions...

<grr>

If Schar is out, wonder if Clark to the right, Dummet left with Lascelles in the middle of the back 3 is worth a go if Lejeune isn't ready.

So Gayle and Muto up top, with Big Joe on the bench taking Carrol's impact sub spot?

gayle and muto **** that

gayle and muto **** that

It's the strike force no one would expect, one prefers to be in the box the other runs around and never gets near the box! If you add AS-M and Almiron into the mix - there's no end product from any of them - but they'd be hard to mark. Defenders would be knacked trying to keep up with their movement, leaving space for them to ....fluff their opportunities.

there's no end product because we don't create enough chances and muto is worse

3-4-1-2
No, not just random numbers but the formation we should try.
Dubravka
Schar - Lascelles - Clark
Yedlin - The Two Brothers - Willem
Almiron
Joelinton - Twinkle toes.

Just out of interest, who is Twinkle Toes?

Are you referring to the big disabled guy, the toothy goon or the malfunctioning oriental?

EDIT: ah do you mean ASM? He'll play behind the striker surely?
