Didn't think he played bad but he frustrated me with his unwillingness to track back. Lost count how many times he jogged back towards Simpson. Barton and Gutierrez worked a lot harder for their respective full backs.

He also frustrates me because his ability is much much better than he's showing, he could easily be a **** load better if after squaring a ball to our central midfield, he made a run down the wing or just forwards. No one will catch him!

Have you looked at the Skysports player ratings ?

They have Villa players ranking anywhere from 6 - 8. Newcastle are all 6 except for Cabaye, who was 8. And they agree we dominated the match.

Which seems to mean our team played better than theirs, but nearly all of our players played worse. How does that work ?

Because they are clueless the fact that anyone from Given or Agbonlahor got higher than 6 for them is concerning.

I think Obertan's doing OK, just needs to work on his crossing. We should be playing Marveaux, but I think he'd be better in the centre so we may have to lose a striker for that to work.

You can just clearly see that Marveaux has a lot of skill, ability and potential. The fact that many can see it, and that many can see it only after such a small amount of game time, is a testament to just how good Marveaux could be for us.

It hasn't taken me long at all to see that he's likely to offer a lot more than Obertan does. We've seen Obertan over a few games now, but as soon as Marveaux came on he just made one heck of a difference imo.

For the sake of the team we need to give him a try.
