Section 24A of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE) states that an individual can perform an arrest on somebody they suspect of committing an indicatable offence. This applies to serious offences that can be tried in a Crown Court, for example assault, burglary or criminal damage. I don't think celebrating or even pitch encroachment falls into that category even drunk and disorderly is only a breach of the peace ask a steward, next time you are at a match I did and was told they cannot arrest anyone only the police can
please log in to view this image See above. The police were present as they are in every ground. It matters not really though because our fans are at fault. I don't care who or how they are restrained personally (I'd happily see a policeman wipe one out with a nightstick across the chops - but the law stops them being dealt with the way they deserve). Regardless the stewards did a great job of stopping that becoming really ugly. We would not have enough police in the ground to police all sections, so they need support from the stewards. One of the lads had a case though as he was dragged over by the steward. I think he has had his charges quite rightly dropped. That steward should not have done that but I can understand you are in a heightened situation due to our fans behaviour. As you can see in the background of all the pics there are plenty of NUFC fans who seem able to behave in a respectable manner while thoroughly enjoying themselves and celebrating the goal. These lads/lasses represent our fanbase well. Its a shame a few have to spoil it. Why NUST want to give legal support to utter knobheads is a beyond me, let the ****s face the consequence of their actions.
What started as high jinks has led to people being banged up overnight, charged and no doubt found guily of a crime which again, will in years to come still be on their police record...totally disproportionate to what looks like to have happened. Give these lads an eighty quid fine, without going on their record, and tell them to go on their way. I remember the bad old days when a lot of people would invade the pitch looking for it. This was nothing.
I also remember the 'bad old days' where football fans were 'fair game' for Police officers to abuse their position and give you a good kicking for no other reason than you were a football fan
T. I remember this horrible little **** working as a police spotter who would stand in the Gallowgate and point out to the uniformed coppers any fan who was 'enjoying' themselves too much. That was normally just someone standing on a barrier and leading the crowd singing. I hope the little **** got caught doing something himself and got nicked for it.
I hope every single one of these twats shaming our club get something on their police record. I hope they receive a banning order too. That way the fans who want to actually support the club can do so without the presence of fake fans who can't behave themselves in a respectable manner. Personally I think they should be made to watch Sunderland too.
Last game of the season mid-80s, Norwich away. Hundreds of our fans on the pitch after the final whistle, not kicking off, golf ball launched from the home end hits one of our lads, Kenny Wilson, on the bonce. Bullseye! To his credit his legs buckled but he didn't go down. It did kind of spoil his night in Great Yarmouth though.
I moved to Indonesia and am now a semi successful business man. Still like to help the police out when I can and reported Chippy for over excessive use of bog roll in the Platinum Club toilets last time I was there.
We need a deterrent. I think 90mins of watching that lot would be enough for any man to see the light. Its funny isn't it, you rarely see any women behaving this way. Blokes seem to want to monopolise being boorish cocks at football matches.
