I went today. Got a last minute ticket in the home end. Live 5 min walk from the ground. Was directly behind the goal in the North stand. Great view of Rondon free kick. Also was never a pen. Was about 20ft away and it was really soft. Before the equaliser a young lad threw the ball straight back to dubravka and went on to score. Everyone was like what you doing!? From where I was Shelvey really upped the pressure when he came on with Atsu also making a nuisance of himself. Great game anyway after the 1st goal from 2 quite equal teams.
I would have preferred to win but that was pretty spot on in terms of what Gosling did to us. Ex player comes back with a late equalizer
Ha - I was sat directly behind the goal in front of that and I was like how the F has he kept that out without seriously injuring himself!
Yep good point that. Would have been great to win but keeps the momentum going. Win at Arsenal next game and we ahould be safe.
Seven fans locked up overnight for celebrating the equaliser ffs. Not like they were threatening anyone
They actually ran on to the pitch and one of the stewards trying to stop them was injured. After last weeks incidents it was a particularly stupid thing to do.
What with that and plagiarising another teams match thread this has been a particularly black weekend for Newcastle.
They didn't run onto the pitch, they tried to celebrate with the players off the pitch. It was high spirits, not threatening in the slightest. You see it nearly every game. Certainly didn't warrant seven being detained overnight.
Trigger happy stewards mate. You'll see it after Richie scored. High jinx, nowt more. There'd be a hundred locked up every week if they followed this example.
Having seen the footage at the time and the pictures since, I can't defend our fans. They are an embarrassment to the club. Absolute knob heads who think it is ok to leave the away section and go onto the side of the pitch (though one was pulled there). A steward was injured and they were aggressive to stewards and police. That is the reality rather than writing it off as high jinks. Its not 1977 anymore, its not acceptable. Unsurprisingly it looked like young lads again. We should have been talking about the fight shown to get the point, instead its about little ****tards rolling around on the floor with stewards and police. please log in to view this image There is a reason why the sections are the size they are. Its not that difficult to stay within it. The fact a steward was injured in the melee says it all. I'm all for fans celebrating and not getting too anal about policing them, but unfortunately the little scroats spoil it for everyone. Like the "if Sammy scores we're on the pitch" crowd. I'm a big fan of standing and some of things we've consigned to the past. Fans going way over the top and spilling beyond the area allotted to them is not one of those things I miss. I'm not surprised and I don't miss that about the away days. It changed around the Sir Bobby era or just after, there was a swathe of youngsters jumping on the bus, but when you got in the ground, these little scumballs quickly thought no rules applied. It needs clamped down now with everything that is going on, and fans need to understand what the limits are. Why you can't celebrate a goal without jumping on players backs and jumping boards is difficult to fathom. I know one thing, trying to blame over zealous police and stewards instead of tackling the issue is not the way forward for me.
