How's Shelveys temperament these days as he's due to get a fair amount of stick due to being an ex-jack bastard? From the little i saw of him last season he looked to be playing well, unlucky not to get a world cup call-up?
It wasn't bad against Spuds. We lacked a bit of clear identity, but we always seem better away from home under Rafa - we seem to know what to do more. We're a team who look more prepared to not have the ball. Not sure if it's Rafa, or the players, but last season we were organised and hard to break down, with some flashed on the break. This season we have Kenedy from the start, a better hold up striker, Perez is a bit more experienced so we should be slightly better away from home again. I have hope that this could be a win for us, just as Cardiff are trying to find their feet.
We're not a possession football type of side, though we do tend to break and counter-attack at pace. Midfield is our weakness and I'm hoping Camarasa and Arter will seriously improve us there. We're dangerous from corners and free kicks so the more of those we get the better. I'm just hoping that the first home game buzz will trickle down to the players and perform like they belong here, not just to make up the numbers. Looking forward to it, wish it wasn't an early kick off though, a perfect way to spoil a weekend before it's even started. Thought you were unlucky v spurs so know it will be tough.
Had totally forgotten about this link. His temperament has been pretty spot on but I remember him getting away with what should have been a red in the second half of the season. Sure he acted out to a foul on him. The problem is Shelvey is still somebody who gets completely caught up in the occasion and, if he doesnt scythe anyone down, I'd expect him to give some stick to your fans. Have you guys got any resident nutjobs?
His last red card was on Dec 13th last year and he's matured a lot since IMHO. He's got his head down and knuckled down into becoming one of our key players during the backend of last season and was damned unlucky not to go to Russia. Hopefully he can pick up where he left off last season and prove to be just as influential if not more so for us this season. If we'd had some better players on the end of some of his killer passes last season he would have had a lot more attention for all the right reasons. I'm not sure we've got that just yet this season in Rondon/Muto etc but we're in a bit of a discovery phase for the first few months of the season so time will tell.
No real nutjobs though a few will get stuck in. Sol Bamba probably the most likely, the man gets a bit too intense at times.
Wasn't bad luck for Shelvey it was just pure stupid selection or non selection by a limited, poor England manager. We all said before the World Cup what he could bring to the England squad/team and what was one of the main things that the England squad/team were painfully short of? Someone who could pick a pass. But could the England manager foresee that? Noooooo.
This is a quiz one of our posters puts up before every game, all the questions are Newcastle/Cardiff centric so have a crack. Here is where you'll find our guesses and answers. https://onlyonecardiff.city/threads...y-v-newcastle-united-matches.5296/#post-94900 And this is a direct link to the questions. http://mauveandyellowarmy.net/
Irving Nattrass remains my favourite ever right back for NUFC. He was a classy, smooth full back who should have played for England.
