    Nowt funny about that mate.

I said it 3 games ago.

I don't think we'll lose again this season.

We're not leaking goals, we seem to have gelled as a team, finally, particularly in defence, and there's a passion there that was missing most of the season.

When did you last make any sense? <laugh>

Five or six weeks ago I thought we were down. I just didn't want to actually say it. Here or anywhere else.

Now I'm very confident we'll stay up.

I really don't see us losing a game now.

Watched the game down the village pub. All the locals wanted us to win except the Geordie git (nobody likes him!).

I get a lot of stick being the only mackem in the village. Being down south, obviously they're all Utd, City or cockney twats! But no one here thinks we're going down if we play like that to the next of the season.

That was a great 0-0 game!

More importantly I think the players believe that too, which is a huge turn around thanks to Sam.

Mannone....great performance apart from his Crocodile Dundee moment....

Yedlin...really starting to settle to the Premier League now. End ball needs to be better but good effort from the lad.

PVA..unlucky with his free kick....just another 6 inches and what a score....hmmm I'm always thinking that about myself...lol

    Kone...just such a beast....as Billy mentioned earlier....MoM

Kaboul...another strong performance...great partnership developing with Kone

Khazri...a lot better today...immense effort as he had to keep an eye on Bellerin

Kirchoff...top class....still can't get over if this is the same guy who came on against the Spuds

Catts...wasn't his best day for passing but again true leader out there.

M'Vila...this lad has run himself into the ground for us this season. He's knackered....but forgive him at the moment for below normal performances...Top, top player

Borini...love the lads shift he puts in....always up for the battle and plays with such passion....

Defoe....such a danger today....had Mertesacker ****ting his pants at time....definite penalty

Watmore and Larsson....two good performances from the bench.....play like this next week at Stoke and we will get something out the game...

Kirchoff is the best midfielder ive seen play for us .... close to being the best player period. Gonna hate to lose M'vila like but i just cant see him signing a permenant deal, higher station then us I reckon.

I've a feeling that if we stay up then M'Vila was stay here, he obviously likes it here and I think he would like to repay us for giving him his chance, just imagine what he could do for us after a full pre season.

If we stay up and they stay, we've got the makings of an excellent midfield in Kirchoff and M'vila. I know it'll be an unpopular opinion on here but we just need to sign a third decent midfielder to complement them

I think so too, I'm pretty sure he's said himself that if we stay up he wants to stick around. Could just be words but he didn't have to say it.

I get the impression all of the new guys are enjoying their time with us, you can't beat a passionate prem support can you.

Cattermole can't be faulted for his attitude, desire, and leadership but I don't rate his technical ability at all. He looks awkward when in possession of the ball and while he can hit a good pass, he can also shank them badly. Plus, he's been one of the constants in our poor run over the last few years.

Thats it right there !!!! Without that its just 11 mercenaires showing off. Every team needs a cattermole , and i reckon a 3 set up as follows would be class next season after a proper no ****ing about holiday/pre season

    _______________DEFENSE_______________

    _______________CATTS__________________

    ___KIRCHOFF______________MVILLA______

    _____________FORWARDS________________

But Kirchhoff is such a class act shielding the centre halves, why would you move him from there? They're all fairly defensive-minded and we need more attacking intent in the midfield; Cattermole is the least technically able of the three so its natural that he should be the one that makes way. He maybe has a role to play coming off the bench to see games out but if we're going to move away from constant relegation battles we have to forget sentiment and get better footballers in.

    fair enough!!!

I just think Kirchoff could do a better job further up then catts does. Saying that the lad would probably do a better job in 9 out of the 11 positions on the park. He's that good.

If catts doesn't play , we need to replace him with someone who has the same fire. There are 4 or 5 other players need replacing before we shift catts. Both fullbacks for a start. Yedlin is improving and was IMO class the first half today, pva would stick about but in a more advanced role.

<laugh>. A proper pre season. We are at the end of April. Think they have plenty of time by now to get over the last shambles.

Just get him to have a chat with Juuullliiioooooooo......he loved it up here, understands what playing for Sunderland really means, and the bonus is you get to help a local team improve as well once you've hung up your pro boots.....South Shields Mariners champions with Arca running the midfield:)
