As an aside. Lloyd Kelly impressed me last night. No doubt in my mind he's a top Premiership defender, especially left side in a back 3. Can't see him staying at Bournemouth even if they get promoted.
No surprise, we all saw his promise when he was with us. He was still young, and a little bit rash and needed experience, now he's gained that, he had all the attributes to be a success.
Be surprised if they get promoted, 3 of the top 6 are far better and Barnsley and Cardiff coming up hard behind them are probably better as well.
Never at any stage did I think that we were in with a shout, last night proved that if not fully at the races our midfield is still unconvincing and obviously not consistent, especially if Lansbury plays. However at least now we do attempt to pass the ball forward and attempt to win games, unlike the past couple of seasons.
The game showed the gulf in class between what we are now, and what we want to be if we want to be serious contenders to get to the Prem. Pretty sure we won't be troubling the Playoffs this season, and personally I think on balance it's probably a good thing. That way NP has the remaining games of this season to suss out who he wants to retain to mount a challenge next year, and who is surplus to requirements.
Spot on -we at least are competing-6 FROM 9 GREAT TURN AROUND. Bentley is massively in credit -we would have been in a far far worse position without his saves previously. NP can now look at his team for next year and move out the rubbish and improve those positions as SL has said funds will be available. Massive improvements in the last three games.
Need at least 1 right back, a midfield leader/organiser, hopefully a replacement for Diedhiou and another striker IMHO.
The hiring of Nigel has given us a way better chance of making our team a contender for the long term because I think a lot of the players brought in under previous regimes might be looking for other employment this summer off-season. So many of our current squad have not met the challenge and the performance levels have been shocking at times which leads me to think there could be a massive cull at the end of this season. Will the rebuilding of City come under the direction of Pearson or will he see something about our organization that takes him on his way? I believe that if he stays then our future could look brighter than it has for a long time but should he leave then that future could again be clouded in fog and questions. The new look Bristol City won't arrive overnight so be patient and let's see what Nigel has to say about our lot in football towards the end of this campaign.
i really think he wants the position long term and I reckon SL wants him long term. Think there will be exodus of players. SL and NP onwards and upwards.
