Good post AG. Nice to see you find the technical analysis interesting. Newey's understanding of CFD (computational fluid dynamics) seems utterly intuitive, almost like a sixth sense. His analytical thinking flows so easily that one wonders if he actually needs a computer for the 'C' part of the science! Back on topic, I find myself ever more persuaded that Bottas was really the stand out driver of the day.
Best Driver: Bottas - been outstanding all weekend, and now leads his more experienced, race winning team mate in the drivers championship Worst Driver: Maldonado - terrible attitude towards the team, and was destroyed by Bottas. F1 would be better off without him I think Best Rookie (Gutierrez, Bottas, Van Der Garde , Bianchi, Chilton): Bottas - see above Best Team: Red Bull Worst Team: Caterham Best Overtake: Bottas on Gutierrez - better than Kimi's move on Hulkenburg last year Funniest-moment: Those pathetic IndyCar/NASCAR style camera on the nose cones Most Surprising Result: Speed of the Williams Least Surprising Result: Hulkenberg yet again in the points. It would be a shame not to see him at Lotus next year Special Mention to: Grosjean Race Rating: 5/10
I think that is a bit unfair. Whilst erratic, he has won a race and with some better luck/judgement could have had a few podiums last year. He has had the measure of Bottas for most of this year as well but the Williams has done neither any favours this year.
