Unorthodox technique, but it counts for Clint Dempsey 2-1 Yanks.

They are relying on the most egotistical player the world have maybe ever seen. They never stood a chance mate.

So Ghana has to win by more than one and the yanks lose and Ghana are through. Portugal also has to win big, it should be a cracker but the other game will be a bore draw.

I hope both games are on the BBC as ITV have already picked three wrong games on their main channel.

I think we should get Jürgen Klinsmann in as the next QPR manager.

Now that's an idea - he's certainly developed a competitive USA side.

I wouldn't mind. Though I'm not sure he would be a good fit, very unconventional and I can't see him succeding with all his changes in England. We're talking Feng Shui and Buddha statues around the place, how do think that would work in West London? :emoticon-0102-bigsm

And he's settled in California and on a very long term project with team USA. Not sure he'll ever move away from America.

Had the pleasure of watching this in a bar in Indianapolis last night. I'm very impressed with the interest being shown over here, and the fact that over 150,000 tickets for games have been sold to US buyers, second only to Brazil. OK some geographical advantages, but not bad for a country supposedly with no interest and understanding in the sport. Doubtless a few of these sales will be for followers of Mexico and other teams though. We come in 5th with 38,000 tickets, better than any other European country, behind Argentina, Colombia and, brilliantly, Australia. Nice one Aussies, 40,000 tickets sold.

Less impressed with the ESPN TV coverage though. All suits and Steve McManaman as an expert. Makes ITV look good.

    100% agree.

There's a lot of passion and knowledge about football in the US, probably 50% of customers in the bar I work in have a European team they follow, and quite a few of them have heard of QPR, and know we're back in the Premier League.

Also, yes. ESPN's coverage is almost as bad as the Olympic coverage.

Here in Canada the CBC WC coverage is great and so far they have broadcast every match, except this week there are now two matches per 1:00pm & 5:00pm time-slots, so today they have selected Netherlands v Chile @ 1:00pm. Our Atlantic Canada time-zone (AST) is also the same as most of the Brazil venues.

Are they showing Brazil or the match that matters?

ITV have 3 games where they are showing the wrong match on their main channel just because involves a big team even though its meaningless, Brazil England and Argentina IIRC.

Both matches appear on this CBC World Cup schedule, but suspect one of them will be picked up by their affiliate ABC.
