Lol... too funny. I guess they really don't need to. It looks like the Ferrari is going to struggle pretty baldly here. Smart move by Ferrari, but not exactly very sporting at all. I know it's not technically against the rules, but it's a bit of a poor thing to do.
I have the feeling there will be a crash at the first corner, and it doesn't help that Crashjean and Mal-Doh-Nado are right behind Alonso.

You're probably right that it will all be in vain, but when it is clearly so cynical and obvious that they can't be bothered to hide it, it just shows the lengths some go in search of victory. History is littered with desperate examples which is why opinions are so polarised on the people involved in those incidents. Some see it as a good sign becuase a team/driver is so driven to success, others frown because it's just not the done thing, old chap!
