Well he always scores against us.. .. So I assume that means we'll sign and he'll get own goals every match.
'I would have taken 44 points' FT: Brighton 0-0 Newcastle please log in to view this image Newcastle United Newcastle manager Steve Bruce to Sky Sports: "That's our 10th game in 35 days. We have got a lot of tired bodies. We can't rotate like some others can. Andy Carroll is beating himself up, he knows he should have scored the winner. "I let other people reflect on that [how the season has gone]. It's been difficult for everyone concerned with everything that's gone on. We've done OK [this season]. I would have taken 44 points. I think we were safe when we beat Southampton in March. "In every interview for 15 weeks I've been asked the same thing [about the takeover delay]. We need a bit of clarity. Until then I'll go to work and see the CEO and plan for the summer. That's all we can do. It's frustrating."
tbh that's a fair assessment from Bruce and he's right we've done OK . I think he's wrong about rotating.. he could do better there , but at the end of the day he's done better results wise than I thought at least.
Well it sounds a bit more professional than the reality, ie "I'll have a beer with the fat **** and see if he still remembers he owns a football club".
No point reading much into tonight, proper end of season job. Away, no fans in the stadium safe from the drop and played a load of games close together. Can't really blame either team for lacking the urgency. Just hope we don't have to carry on this uncertainty into next season. Don't want to get to the point where Ashley is still in charge and our Premier League status is at risk making it more complicated again to get the club sold. It's realistic that point could be quite early in the season if we had a really bad start. Especially if this state of paralysis we are in seriously impacts planning for next year. If all the loans go back and we are unable to recruit we will have big problems. The window is shortened this time round also.
Bruce: " Well the ball was way too spherical, which obviously played into their hands tonight. We have been playing with an oblate ellipsoid ball in training and obviously the lads are used to this. Big Andy has been putting the mis-shaped spheroid in the back of the net all week"...
