Like I said about Donaldson, I don't feel like we can be fussy with strikers now. I'd be happy to see almost any striker come in. The worry for me is that we don't get one at all and it's a repeat of last year.
Why the hell is a three and a half year contract a problem. He will only be 35 at the end of it. Deano was older than that. If he gets us promotion get him in. We can always loan him out next season if he can't hack it in the PL
It's got nothing to do with age, its financial committment. How many times have people wished we'd given shorter contracts to Oli and McShane?
It will be a three and a half year contract and will probably be worth three times as much as Deano was getting paid.
I know that if we get the Egyptian players there will be an announcement from the club that no-one else is coming in, ... but if we could also get another good striker (and hopefully Elmo), I reckon the January window will have left us a lot stronger after threatening to reduce our promotion hopes.
