It's allowed, but it's not "in the spirit of the game." Arsenal went for the win, Newcastle had settled for a draw from mid-way through the first half - when they weren't in any kind of advantageous position.

van Persie wound Krul up all game, as he plays with him for Holland he'll know about his temperament, maybe he knew he could get to him? It certainly worked!
All teams do this - if you're smart. You wind up Barton, or Rooney etc; those players known to lose it if you get to them. For Arsenal it's Song, he's prone to picking up cards. It's smart play.
 
So the pundits and the journalists think RVP behaved like a spoiled arrogant petulant little bellend and his own manager was thankful that he wasn't sent off, yet the Arsenal fans still condone his actions, ah well you won't have to worry when he's winning things with Man City.

Now I don't really give a **** about the additional stuff last night, its all handbags. But you may have your Arsenal specs on when you suggest Krul taking his time to pick up the ball is not in the spirit of the game, but winding up the opposition is? Surely they are both just part and parcel of football games. Not really the epitome of fair play, but hardly anything to throw the toys out about.

Winding up is smart, Krul was winding up RvP, and that was smart too. I didn't say what Krul didn't wasn't smart - he found a way to get a van Persie, and he played on it. You could almost say he instigated it, then couldn't take it when van Persie dished it back after the winner.

I'm not throwing any toys out. Krul did a smart thing, that got to van Persie. van Persie did a smart thing, that got to Krul, but Vermaelen did the smartest thing, and Arsenal won the game.

Hence why I stated "Nothing against the rules". However, it is time wasting taking 20 seconds to walk to your half-way line to take a free kick and another 20 seconds to actually kick the ball (95% of which he played the ball to Arsenal anyway).

Krul did very little wrong? Bollocks. Running after VP and abusing him when he knew they'd lost is wrong. It's also pretty ****ing stupid.
 
Has no one mentioned Van Persie's insistence in standing in front of Krul on at least 4/5 occasions when he went to go and kick it out, (he complained to the Ref about time wasting both before nad after these occasions as well).

Don't get me wrong, Arsenal deserved to win, the whole thing was childish, but lets not ignore facts when trying to debate who's in the right or wrong!

Funny that he waited until VP turned round and signalled something before he ran over.... You could say it looked more like RVP was goading him in an unprofessional manner (hence why Krul actually ran over to Webb and complained) ... But then again you may have your red tinted specs on eh?

Looks like you didn't catch the first few incidents. RVP had to go close to him so that Krul would pick the ball off the ground.

I was really irritated by that keeper though. I've never seen someone try to delay the game so early on in the game. He practically started doing it right after the 2nd half started.
 
i think he was indicating that Krul should take his time <devil>
none of it was against the rules, it was all handbags. the both behaved in a childish manner, and in that spirit, Krul started it!

RVP chased after Krul to make him pick up the ball - nothing wrong. RVP got in front to hope the keeper made a mistake - again nothing wrong.

Why all the fuss?

Actually, I think RVP standing in front of the keeper when he is about to kick / throw it out is actually obstruction. I believe that he has to allow the keeper space to distribute the ball.

That aside, it was frustrating at the ground watching Krul waste so much time from so early in the game (about 20 minutes in), but it was all within the laws, the ref added good stoppage time and in the end, it was all just handbags.

Heard someone saying last night that Krul and VP have a bit of history from their last dutch training camp, but don't know much more about that.
 
Why are people talking about who would 'destroy' each other out of RVP and Krul? How old are they? If they wanna watch a scrap just go on a night out in town. At the end of the day, we lost in the last 30 seconds against a top team on a good run of form. Realistically who expected us to get much from this game prior to kick off? Sure it's a kick in the bollocks to lose in the manner we did, but we've got 10 games to go for a european place which we wouldn't have thought likely at the start of the season, which for me is much more important than a little spat.

HBA has hit the nail on the head when he says RVP isn't our problem. It was just handbags that boiled over at the end with frustration from both sets of players. No big deal. End of.

He did, but proceeding to shadow the keeper's movements and not allowing him to take the kick is technically obstruction and a foul.

Like what every other keeper in the league does then? <doh> The ball was in play so he had every right to wait for the striker to come to him, it's not unsporting, whereas your lot ignoring Tiote being down, well that just is. That was after we were kind enough to kick the ball out for Kosceilny.
