It was a peno and should of been a yellow. I doubt he would of scored anyway. Mills should of let him through Better to concede a goal and keep 11 on the pitch then lose a man and a goal
Hooray!!! A decent thread that involves other clubs without slagging each other off and immature name calling. IMO it WAS a penalty and as said earlier, if that would have been a Hull player then we would be calling for a red card. I just hope this allows Tunchev back in the side now.
Just to highlight a flaw in someones argument, the chance of the keeper saving it plays no part in a goal scoring oppurtunity, if he's in clear sight of the goal and close enough to get a good shot away it is one. If the keeper had a bearing in it, it wouldn't ever be a goalscoring chance unless it was an open goal. Mills was also last man, so if the fouls given it has to be a sending off, can't give one without the other. I also think it would have been straight red anyway for lashing out, no matter how soft it is when you kick out at someone your asking to be sent off. Must say it was a brilliant spot by the ref, I was sat right behind the incident and it was too quick for me to notice, I wasn't entirely sure why we'd been given the pen and bewildered at why Mills was sent off. Anyway Mills was very stupid to do what he did, if he'd of left it, it was 50/50 whether McLean would even have managed to get back on the ball, and even if he did there would be like a 5% chance of him scoring, his finishing is woeful at best, and even if he did score, you'd have been 1-0 with 11 men rather than 10. Thought it was fairly even until the sending off, we had the better of the chances but you had more of the ball and seemed to be working it around a bit better. 2nd half you defended valiantly, and if it ended as a draw you probably would have deserved the point, but we patiently sat there knocking the ball around in front of your defence, constantly poking and prodding for a way through (never really finding one mind) paid off eventually when Koren hit that sweet weak footer into the corner, and think we deserved to take all the points too. Either way it was a good game and don't think you'll do too badly this season, although I think you'll be a force in this league next season (I don't think promotion is on the cards for either of us this time) when Pearson has his own squad there, and you will surely be challenging for the top spot from the start. Best of luck excluding the return fixture
Im not saying it does play a part in the refs decision just it should in Mills before he does something stupid.
This is nit picking too, but watch the replay of your goal from the stand camera in slow motion, or keep pausing/playing. Nugent is just a yard offside when the ball is played to him.
Mills Didn't need to do that extra flick out, McLean would have gone over anyway imo, and a very harsh penalty would have been given, instead, he had made it clear cut. He should have let Kasper deal with it, hes not let us down this season. Im happy with the performance seeming we had 10 men on the pitch for almost an hour without letting another one in. Odd that NP got a bad reception when it was 2 players that he signed that won them the game today. Alot of positives to take from the game on Sat. Hope that the players havn't run themselves too ragged for the next game tho. We should be able to pickup 9 points in the next 3 games, i say "should" because this is one crazzzy league.
