How's about a match thread? Varane back so at least Lindelof won't be in the team. Which in turn improves Maguire. Kane seemingly in decent form so that pair up against it, hopefully they react. That said, what else do Spurs have to be fearful of? Unless Son bursts into tears if someone breaths on him, **** all to be honest. Would like us to go 4 3 3 ; De Gea AWB Varane Maguire Telles Fred Pogba Fernandes Elanga Ronaldo Sancho Score more = win.
Can't really argue with that line up. Maybe go Dalot for AWB, guess it depends on who we think is better up against Son. Could also have Ronaldo instead of Elanga to start with and have Cavani up front. As my old uncle used to say, you pays your money and you takes your choice.
Can't see what Cavani has done to start, although I see him as a very useful sub. Agree Ronaldo off the left is a good option. Would mean Elanga as sub and Rashford as centre forward. Could work. Rashford might sulk a bit less if he starts, but Elanga doesn't deserve to be dropped to the bench to accommodate this. *right back can be either AWB or Dalot, whichever makes Son cry more is good for me.
Cavani hasn't had a run of games which I think he needs. My thinking was that Ronaldo and Cavani playing together may bring that finishing we've been lacking for several weeks.
I still don't think the fault lies in our creativity or build up play. It's the final third letting us down.
Nothing wrong at all with build up/creating, in the last few games we have missed so many easy chances (and been unlucky with the woodwork) that we should have had full points in all (except City). The finishing has been abysmal, either snatched at or too tentative but well off the clinical mark we need. I don't like Kane but that man is clinical, he puts the ball in the net with the slightest (and often hardest) chance.
Haven't I read that De Gea is out with Covid? Cancel that, it seems he has since returned a negative test and may be available for selection.
The number of easy chances that have been missed is staggering. Apparently the highest of any team in the premiership. We used to say as long as we created chances we should be ok. No, we could create hundreds of chances in a match but if we can’t score at least one it’s absolutely pointless.
Off the pitch - I believe so, yes. On it, he owes us a few performances like that after a comparatively barren spell considering the wages.
I'm not worried about the wages in his case, this is one guy who deserves it. I'm not sure why off the pitch he has this effect? But, as mentioned on the men v boys thread, if our younger players can't learn (and not shrink) from Ronaldo, they're in the wrong job and place. It's our defence that's the problem. *tbh, Spurs are ****e.
A bit of a consolation tbh. Whenever I think about the **** we are currently in, I think that at least there is another club underachieving as badly as Utd. How can a club do the double over City and yet got done twice by Utd? Neville said that Utd lose to any decent team. He doesn’t include spurs in that category.
