Uptown saint - I'm beginning to think something similar. Picking a substandard team and holding Shaw and Lallana back for Saturdays game which is far more important. Just feel sorry for our fans who have travelled all the way up there to see this team get stuffed
I think he makes a valid point, the manager has obviously seen something from Fox to put him ahead of Shaw, either that or Shaw has a knock). This one has to be down as a home banker. Saturday is a much bigger game in the course of our season and we will need Shaw against Wigan.
Based on what we can guess the state of play is with Lallana's match fitness, it seems right to have him on the bench. Shaw however...?
Looks like 4-4-1-1 with Ramirez LM. Lambert CAM hitting balls from deep to Rodriguez like the Villa game. We'll see.
Probably, yeah. The problem now is that, if we do get a pasting, a bunch of morons on here will say it was because of the team selection. When in fact we were likely to get a pasting no matter what team we put out.
This..... and this!! Absolutely astounding decision. The only three plausible reasons I can think are: 1) We're either trying to increase the sale value of Fox tomorrow night 2) We're trying to avoid anyone bidding big for Shaw tomorrow night 3) The manager actively wants Fox/Hooiveld to show themselves up so badly in a game were already heavily likely to lose, that it creates the right time/reason for Forren to be starting from Wigan onwards for the rest of the season, when Shaw will also be recalled. None of them are good enough reasons to roll over so easily at OT with this team selection. Mental!
Thought we may have a sniff at a point but can see us getting hammered with that line up. Hope I'm wrong
Fox probably looks half decent in training, putting in good crosses etc. True, we don't know the reason for the decision but if he believes that Fox is the better player in a competitive match I fear he is in for a rude awakening. I doubt this would have happened had there been a bit of continuity on the coaching side of things.
I don't moan often, but if he's resting LS then I think he's made a mistake. He's young & hungary, he wants to play, he does not need resting for the w/end game. Fox makes us look fragile. The media already want this guys head, hope he hasn't just given them a bucket load of ammo. Concerned.
Point 1 - Shaw is young and possibly the best if not one of our best players this season, he should easily be able to play two games after a 10 day break. Point 2 - Danny Fox is a dreadful player! Point 3 - we have no CB on the bench and even if Forren isn't match fit he had to make the bench Point 4 - we have goal difference to consider here, if this goes pear we could lose the advantage over teams around us. Point 5 - this result if lost heavily could have much more of a negative effect on our confidence than ever resting our best bloody left back! Nigel would be doing his nut! Everything about confident to win every match and positive attitudes has bloody gone with this line up! Im shocked!
Well a lot of people on here definitely fall into the "moaning" category. Regardless, there's no way a single person on here is as capable of making an informed decision on the lineup as Pochettino. It may be a particular strategy, it may be fitness concerns. Either way, I'm sure there's some thought behind it.
To be fair there are many reasons Shaw isnt playing, but i cant see it being that MP things Fox is better, he will have watched shaw play when he researched us, also if he is being told to bring though youth i cant see him dropping shaw
I certainly was not expecting a pasting as with our full team out we have proven against Arsenal and Chelsea that we can give these top teams a real game but this seems to be putting the white flags out before we have even taken to the pitch
