Really Dave? Considering we sit an insurmountable three points off the top of the premier league, you could be right. We're ****ed. I mean, we just got knocked out in a cup game, you know like 'it's the cup, anything can happen in the cup'. Or does that cliche not apply this time? I will only go on our league position as the league does not and never will lie, we are second and defending champions. The OP missed Cleverly and Young who, when fit, will bolster that pityfully weak midfield we have. He also missed out our more than capable reserve goalkeeper who can steady the ship while the youngester beefs up and get those eyes of his sorted! We also have at this present time an unprecedented amount of injuries yet we STILL lie second. Not an excuse, just an actual fact of our current position. That, my friend, means our squad is far from weak. What I do agree with is that we will need three, maybe even four, new faces at the end of the season. We need full back cover on both sides as the De Silva's are neither good enough or fit enough and we do need a CM and, possibly, a centre half. In the meantime we're still better than the rest of you until someone proves otherwise. By that I mean taking out league title, not winning a one off cup game.
You perhaps need to get a dictionary and look up delusion as what you quoted contains facts. That's all.
This article isnt saying United are ****e....Its suggesting they have a weaker squad than they have had for sometime....A couple of seasons ago United were challenging for five trophies at this time of the year.....They are far off of that with the current squad....But they do have good youth players and its possible the same squad could be a lot stronger in a few years....Similar to us
You're reasons and facts r.e. league positions is fair comment RR and I for one wouldn't even try to argue that we're stronger/better based on a one off game...ultimately the league doesn't lie. B4F's thread though is also valid...this really is the worst united squad I've seen for a decade. This undoubtedly is mainly due to the fact that previous squads have been far ahead of everyone elses so it doesn't make you a poor team but even the blindest fan has known for 18 months that the central midfield isn't consistent enough, Rio, Scholes, Giggs, Owen are approaching the end of their shelf life oh and the keeper situation is hurting your chances too.
I think you're spot on. I watched the game today, the only positives i saw were Smalling (played well against us last week, apart from that slip) Valencia (deadly cross) and Welbeck (needs work on his shooting though). Aside from that, your team was pants or past it. De Gea really is dreadful, Lindegaard is a far better option (we've had a few dodgy keepers, but De Gea makes Almunia look world class).
Yeah, but my point is that the squad, when all are fit, is only really two or three signings away from being top drawer agan. Admittedly those two or three would need to be right out of the top drawer rather than average but we really have had worse squads than this one. If we sign a decent right back then it means our centre halves can all concentrate on being just that. We need a really good, world class, CM to go with Carrick, Cleverly, Fletcher (assuming he does come back) and maybe Jones has a future there. If Jones goes to CM then a centre half maybe and, eventually, a centre forward for when Berbatov and Owen go. Otherwise, we're ok.
Yes, unfortunately. We sent him on loan to West ham, he was ****e, they didn't want him. We can't seem to get rid of him. Even releasing him into the wilderness would be difficult, like a dog, he'd still find his way back. Or Wenger would re-sign him.
