Cheers Matth, I'd accidentally scooped my brain out with a dessert spoon, and that was very much needed and appreciated <ok>

In such an easy group, surely surely surely as manager you'd think, you know what I'm going to enjoy this. I'm going to give the fans some exciting, attacking, free-flowing football. Tell the players to go express themselves and tell them that the SOLE purpose of these qualifying games is to use competitive games to get a real understanding between them (because qualification should be a given). So that when the actual tournament comes round:

    a) they'll have a good understanding of each other's game, partnerships will develop.
    b) they'll be full of confidence playing good, attacking football, and have the belief to beat anyone.
    c) develop a team spirit and a new crop of young, techically able English talent.

The England manager's job is such a fcking great opportunity to do what you want when you have a piss easy group like this. Instead, England manager after England manager sees it like a factory job. Clock in, be workman-like and go through the motions. They ALL lack any self belief or appreciation for the job they have.

The Dippers are in a rage about the treatment of Sterling. Did they take the same view when Fergie was trying to pick and choose the international games his English players and Giggs played in? Unlikely.

And rightly so, resting Sterling should fall solely onto England, seeing as Liverpool are paying his wages.
If he plays for anyone, it should be them.

Also there so no need to Woy to come out and talk **** to the media about it, just trying to deflect attention away from Englands ****ty performance and his Ineptitude in the whole Rooney substitute thing.
And its worked, everyone is talking about Sterling now, instead of how Derp Hodgson is.

Disagree. It's none of Liverpool's ****ing business what he does when he isn't playing for them - if they want him rested then they should rest him themselves, not tire him out in the hope he can have a nice rest whilst other players are putting in a shift.

Or would you be happy if your manager at work told you "No skiing or watersports holidays this year, I'm paying your wages so I don't want you breaking your arm and being off work. Make sure you come back from all holidays ready to work at 100%". Or, for that matter "No drinking at weekend, I pay your wages so you are banned from being hungover on Monday". Liverpool know he's an England international, if they don't like him playing for England then they should sell him and buy someone else.

I agree his comments to the media weren't great, but then if he hadn't said anything the media would be making **** up about him dropping Sterling, or being unhappy with his fitness, or resting him when he wanted to play or any of a number of standard media lines. Which most fans would believe anyway tbh. Whatever Hodgson said he was ****ed, at least he seems to have actually told the truth rather than hiding behind some prepared BS.

If I was a professional water skier I would fully expect my manager to not want me to injure myself in my own time water skiing recreationally yes.

And like I said, you just know the reason Hodgson came out with this crap is to make everyone talk about it, and not the fact that England had a **** performance and scraped a win against Estonia......good tactic Woy, seems to be working! <ok>
