That is just crazy. It points out a clear fact though, some of these international games are completely pointless!
The idea is that these minnows of football will eventually develop. There's some truth to this maybe, but overall you'd have to say 40% of the teams in these qualifiers are completely pointless. btw even better, 7 of those 31 passes in that game were goal kicks
That's just a pathetic attempt. Like San Marino, it's not about winning it's about losing by as little as possible - which in my eye's should be punishable. These pathetic teams don't even try and win, it's so obvious to anyone watching, they just try not to lose to double figures. Totally not what football should be about. I wouldn't mind if these minnows actually got smashed by giving it a good go, but the simple fact is they don't even attempt to win Which equates to them not developing their football as a nation - which as you point out should be their aim. I'd be interested in the tactical approach they'd take if it was San Marino vs Gibralter or Andorra. Probably be 0-0
Exactly why playing games against themselves, to develop an attacking mentality, confidence and belief they can actually play. The winner of the lesser euros woyld win the right to play in the full euro qualifiers. This would cut the number of minnows to just one per qualifying.
Only Hodgson could make England play well, with decent passing football... and it still be boring as hell.
