Your not alone in your thoughts about a CM, Ive been banging that drum for 2 years. It is the key pivot position around which everything revolves. Our biggest problem for some time has been lack of direct attack, everything is sideways or backwards, with Hazard having to squirm his way through to see the goal. Perdo is direct and we saw the difference. With a strong forceful CM ( like Yaya) the front men get quick incisive ball to run with, the opposition mids and defenders are fully occupied and spaces open up. That kind of influence, for my money, is better than any defender or winger, as the entire team runs smoother and more fluidly. Pogba anyone?
Loftus Cheek should be playing now as Zouma was last year. He needs experience and he needs bringing on. Hes not yet ready to be the lead CM but could be in another year. He definately wont if he doesnt play for us.
Exactly my sentiments. A big signing there and our whole team dynamic changes, Pogba would be perfect, if not for the price. But if we have the money, have at it. Khedira would have done at a pinch, and was free, no idea why we didn't pursue that. Even Milner would have been better than an out of position Oscar, or Rambo and Mikel, and he was also free.
Yep total agreement. Been saying we need three Matics for a while. City have three: the Ferds and Ya Ya; we need two plus RLC as understudy and Rambo to rotate.
