I agree with this, IMO Moyes is a very good manager but whether that makes him a top manager is very different with far more expectations with Man U than Everton & winning trophies as opposed to respectable league position & cup runs.
Who wants Utd to save their season? Keep Moyes and let him find his feet. Some fans just think it is their god given right to keep winning titles and never fail. Welcome to the real world.
The dilemma there though, is that if they don't make it into The Champions League they could well lose Rooney and maybe even V Persie. They also would find it very hard to sign new top players who would all want to play in that competition.
Right now in the 1st leg of the League Cup Semi-Final he is on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline at Sunderland with 10 mins left on the clock. Bit of a dodgy penalty awarded to Sunderland. Roger Johnson goes through the Man Utd defence like a knife through butter - very quick. Rafael looks like he wants to join his twin brother Fabio by taking a January break - protested the penalty for a yellow, then almost immediately could have picked up another for a recklesss challenge.
Final score, 2-1 Sunderland - another game lost by Moyes, although they can likely still pull it back at Old Trafford in the 2nd leg in 2 weeks - Fergie & Bobby Charlton sitting together don't look too impressed.
@Joey7Barton: Fergie is there again. Lurking in the shadows like the GrimReaper. I've got a feeling DM gets bullet and he emerges to save the day...
You are right of course Col (although Rooney would probably threaten to leave irrespective of where they finish in order to get a pay rise). Raises an interesting point though - I don't think Man U fans would blame the players for leaving (rather than blaming the manager) as much as, say, we blamed players for moving to Premiership clubs for reasons of ambition.
Rooney is so wealthy already that I honestly think his next contract will be for footballing reasons. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he were a Chelsea player at the start of next season.
Moyes will be given to the end of 2014 to turn it around. Hard to believe if things don't improve that he will still be there in 2015.
I am sure it's only a blip for United, (unfortunately) I think they will qualify for the champ league and get to the final of this cup, perhaps not win either but enough for moyes to keep his job, who was going to find instant success there.
Looks like Fergie has had a word in his ear as he is now whinging about refs, something he never did whilst at Everton.
Bobby Charlton's head shake to Fergie at match end:- http://www.joe.ie/football/football...nd-defeat-summed-up-manchester-uniteds-night/ "Things are looking pretty bleak for the Red Devils at the moment. David Moyesâ side crashed to their third successive 2-1 defeat since the turn of the year at the Stadium of Light as Sunderland grabbed the upper hand in the quest to reach the final of the Capital One Cup. Many have questioned the need for Alex Ferguson â not least Joey Barton â to keep showing up at Unitedâs games as there is a feeling that his presence is undermining David Moyes somewhat and the former manager and Bobby Charlton shared a withering look at the final whistle following the latest in a series of terrible results for the Premier League champions. Plenty of United fans would have shared the sentiments of Ferguson and Charlton in what is a very worrying time for a club so accustomed to success in the last two decades, not that they have been getting much sympathy from fans of rival clubs, who are gleefully revelling in their current predicament." please log in to view this image http://www.joe.ie/football/football...n-twitter-after-uniteds-defeat-at-sunderland/ "Twitterâs enfant horrible was at it again this evening⦠please log in to view this image Nobody should be surprised when Joey Barton goes off on a Twitter rant these days, nor should they be surprised at some of the things he says given some of his utterances on the social networking site in the past. Just ask Didi Hamann. His latest target was former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson, at whom he let rip for his consistent attendance at United games, which he (and he isnât the only one that thinks this way) feels is not helping current boss David Moyes, particularly considering Unitedâs disastrous run of form and the pressure Moyes is under right now. Typical of Joey, he didnât hold back when expressing his opinion in a series of tweets, one of which referred to Sir Alex as a busy c**t, a tweet which may subsequently be deleted, in which case weâve included a screen grab of it below the embedded tweet a little further down the page."
Barton really is a twat, I agree with his point but is there really a need to call him a ****. Yes I see the irony in me calling him names but I'm not s public figure representing a club.
I agree with all but the last word that Joey tweeted. It is unnecessary and undermines his usually clean and philosophical arguments. I thought the expression was 'busy fool' anyway.
I like his approach. And he is consistent. When skippering the team I see the same opinionated, driven individual asking the rest of the team to give their all. I think it's unrealistic to expect Joey Barton to be something that he's not. No doubt the last word weakens the efficacy of his tweet, but it also captures the emotion. So I say, keep expressing yourself JB. One can hardly accuse him of being pretentious. Let's face it he will always have a willing audience long after his football career is over. Much like Roy Keane or Geoffrey Boycott - a marmite character - with an endless opportunity to earn on the back of his outspokenness.
I hate his approach. I hate him being the skipper. The last word of his tweet is disrespectful to arguably the greatest club manager British football has ever seen. So I say..........shut the **** up JB!!
Yet again our pr**k of a captian manages to get our club drawn into a pile of sh**e..by association Why cant he just shut up ffs
