This is the difference between an average manager and LVG. He has the confidence to try a new system, one he currently believes in. Now I would have hoped that if that system continues to be **** even with the new players he will have the balls to say he was wrong and change it ..maybe to a 433 On the plus side - a massive silver lining - the defeats occurred early in the transfer window. Confidence may have taken a knock but the owners have seen that they needed to spend and how! they opened their wallets and gave LVG a blank chequebook. Just get the best players available. At whatever price.
Vidal was a target. Nothing to suggest hummels was. Vidal is now apparently seriously injured and out for tge foreseeable... Good move not paying 45million for him then... Our primary targets this summer were Herrera Shaw Vidal Rojo Di maria Blind The only one who wasnt, falcao, you dont say no too. And before you say di maria wasnt, he has been since lvg took his dutch side out to face di marias argentina. As both have said. All in all, its hard to say the window wasnt a success.
Wrong wrong and wrong. Vidal was, dortmund said hummels wasnt for sale and the press twisted it to include us. They did the same for reus. Lvg has said from day one that he wants a robben type player at united. Di maria kind of fits the bill. Im also sure he knew madrid would sell because they needed too. They had already spent heavily and wanted more. Means someones leaving. Falcao. You dont say no. Unless your thick obviously.
Im reserving judgement tbh. If it clicks, it will be unholy. The scattered bodied of abu's everywhere. If it doesn't then ooooops
Not that it matters much now to be honest. But I seriously doubt Di Maria was a target. As far as everyone was concerned, he was gonna sign a new contract with Madrid, and he nearly did....they just didn't offer him enough...apparantly.... It was only when contract talks fell through that he even became available and that was less than 3 weeks ago.
