If he's not taking part in the game and there is all this transfer talk, he probably felt very awkward. Or maybe he is one of the lazy players who can't be bothered with Hurst's coaching style. Either way, we don't know, so don't read too much into it. Either way, he is not worth £5m let alone £8m.
Sorry folks just saying it how I see it. Be gobsmacked right now if we're anywhere above 16th - but time to make a few transfers so we'll see what we can do. Of course, blatently delighted to eat the biggest piece of humble pie possible, go on Hurst and lads, lets have a stormer. For what it's worth, Hurst needs time. If this season is a disaster, lets give him another summer window to get it right. I think managers need three transfer windows - January can be difficult to deal with, and feel we've been left in the dust on several deals this summer. More than happy to give him time.
Well where do you feel we'll come? I'm back in England Friday and toying with the idea of going to Blackburn - speaking of which, a preview needs writing at some point!
In no particular order in each category Promotion Contenders: Aston Villa Leeds United Derby County West Bromwich Albion Middlesbrough Nottingham Forest Sheffield United Chance of the play offs: Stoke City Swansea City Ipswich Town Brentford Hull City Not fancied: Bolton Wanderers Wigan Athletic Queens Park Rangers Bristol City Blackburn Rovers In for a very tough season: Reading Sheffield Wednesday Rotherham United Millwall Norwich City Birmingham City Preston North End
Anywhere from 4th - 14th - it's often just the difference between winning / drawing / losing those tight games. 90% of Championship games are tight affairs. It takes flair, desire and a rock solid defence to make the difference.
Correction, just after Hurst was appointed I "guessed" at a slight improvement on last Season of 10th.
Personally, I think supporters predicting a play off push are off their rocker. You can never rule it out, of course, but we’ve been far from that required standard for a few years now, in terms of quality and performances, so I think it’s a big ask to expect that this season. Give Hurst a season or so to build his own squad and get his playing style effectively in place, and then top six can be a more attainable target.
Me too mate- I mean theirs optomism and then glue sniffing!? Anyone going Sat !? Potentially could meet for a beer x
Unfortunately I’m missing Saturday’s match as I’m not in Suffolk. Only two matches I can do over the next month is Aston Villa and Norwich. With the mates I go with, we’ve always pick and choose our games over the past few years. I get the feeling we may end up getting a half season ticket come December, I’m much more enthused about attending matches this season, particularly if we play the type of stuff I saw against West Ham. Unfortunately the ticketing prices put me off a season ticket, cannot feeling justify the price unless I get that pay rise in November ...
I have to say I'm quietly optimistic about this season particularly after reading the teams analysis on TWTD there are very few teams who are optimistic about their seasons and encouraged by their summers work. Due to the World Cup it also seems to have been a very slow summer in terms of transfers and whilst I would say we haven't had the best transfer window we seem to have been alot more active than the majority of clubs. Plus we do seem to be spending a bit more cash. At the moment it appears the club are doing all the right things. 1 more CB and a replacement for Waghorn if he goes and I think we've done pretty well.
I'll be going Saturday but I'll be paying respects to my grandparents and catching up with family and friends before the game , rarely get to Suffolk. So happy to have my club back and to welcome the new man!
Sorry to hear about your grandparents, Hampy, hope you're doing okay. Fingers crossed the Town can give you something to cheer about on the weekend.
I have to agree with that. I think we've had a decent transfer window... so far (still plenty to be done) but we've highlighted key areas found some solutions. The football we've played in pre season has been far more pleasing on the eye whilst still doing the basics and ensuring that we are solid and tough to break down. With a bit of good fortune I think we'll surprise a few and I certainly don't think we'll need to worry about relegation. We've been fishing in very different waters to some of our rivals (Forest, Derby, Leeds, Villa etc.) but I think Hurst has a good grasp of the type of players (and characters) that he wants and these signings have been on an upward trajectory and successful in their respective leagues, so hopefully they can continue their development with us.
