U23S | @johlpowell netted a brace, while @brendanwiredu added a third as the young Addicks won 3-0 at @swansofficial this afternoon.
Charlton’s U23s made it back-to-back wins with a 3-1 victory over Bristol City at Princes Park on Monday afternoon. After firing three past Swansea City last time out, Jason Euell’s youngsters repeated the trick on home turf to deservedly win all three points as Jason Pearce gained a vital 90 minutes under his belt as he nears a return for first-team involvement. The young Addicks took a first-half lead just after the half-hour mark thanks to Brendan Wiredu, who got on the end of Aaron Henry’s free-kick to head home the opener. Henry’s set-pieces continued to cause havoc for the Robins defence after the break, going one better than an assist in the 56th minute when his corner bounced straight in at the near post for 2-0. And just two minutes later, Charlton added a third via a brilliant solo effort from Hady Ghandour who beat three men before chipping the ball over the goalkeeper to secure a commanding lead for his side. On 67 minutes, Bristol City pulled a goal back –The Robins were able to take advantage when Joe Osagahe’s pass out from the back was intercepted by a purple shirt and the ball was crossed for Sam Bell to finish. But that would prove to be a mere consolation for the visitors as the Addicks eased their way to all three points. Charlton U23s: Osaghae, Barton, Barker, Pearce, Aidoo, Mingi, Henry, Quitirna (Ness 86), Clayden (Santos 86), Wiredu, Ghandour. Subs (not used): Harness, Afrane-Kesey. Goals: Wiredu 31, Henry 56, Ghandour 58
Lost 3-0 today to Brentford B. Charlton Under-23: Osaghae, Barker, Ness, Taylor, Aidoo, Henry, Mingi, Junior, Sarpong-Wiredu, Ghandour, Trialist Nathan Harness has joined Welling United on loan.
Barker did so well at the beginning of the season. Forgive my ignorance of these things, but why is he still apparently nowhere near the 1st team even after a month of poor performances? EDIT: I guess it's because our defence isn't at the heart of our problems right now. It's in the middle of the park and up front that we're so lacking. Sorry - I should have thought about that a bit...
Won 4-0 today against Cardiff. Quitirna and Ghandour both got a brace. Barker didn't play. I wonder whether he will be involved tomorrow in the first team. Jason Euell’s U23s kicked off the new year with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Cardiff City on Monday afternoon. Junior Quitirna and Hady Ghandour helped themselves to a brace apiece with all four goals coming in the second-half at Sparrows Lane. Quitirna opened the scoring just two minutes after the break via an excellent free-kick which he planted into the top left-hand corner after sub Richard Afrane-Kesey had been fouled just outside the box. The young Addicks had to wait until the 69th minute for their second, with Ghandour getting the vital touch to turn the ball in from close range after Freddy Barton had provided a deep and dangerous ball across the face of goal from the right. With 10 minutes remaining, the hosts put the game beyond the Bluebirds as Quitirna bagged his second - a neat turn just outside the box allowed him to fire a low shot into the back of the net to make it 3-0. And just two minutes later, three became four as Ghandour claimed his second, putting in the rebound after the visiting keeper had palmed away Charles Clayden’s cross, putting the cherry on top of an excellent victory on home turf for Charlton’s youngsters. Charlton U23s: Harvey, Barton, French (Afrane-Kesey 46), Ness, Aidoo, Taylor, Quitirna, Oguntayo, Clayden, Wiredu (Beadle 86), Ghandour, Subs (not used): Harness, Adigun Goals: Quitirna 47, 80, Ghandour 69, 82

I don't know mate but I find it strange that all the senior U23 players are not playing. Mingi, Vega, Powell, Aorchoria, etc I know that Vennings is injured but all the seniors are either out on loan like Davison, Dempsey, or not playing. I wonder if the Club will be releasing the players not playing.
https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/form...claiming-couple-of-issues-have-been-resolved/ Gilbey, Famewo and Morgan featuring for the under 23s today.
If Famewo is back on Saturday, Maatsen returns refreshed, we'll have 3 of the back 4 that had all those clean sheets.
Harvey French Oguntayo Henry Famewo Ness Clayden Morgan Than dour Quitirna Gilbey Subs Osaghae, Barker, Afrane- Kesey, Aidoo, Agyemang.
Finished with a 4-3 defeat. Goals from Oguntayo, Quitirna and an own goal. They are learning defending from the first team. Bit worrying as Famewo was playing. Second week running we have conceded four.
