Jose said mid week that Solanke was pulled from the youth team so he could play against the gunners from the bench. He wasn't on the bench. Jose pays lip service to the kids but apart from a very occasional sub, they never play and certainly never make the 1st team. The number of kids Jose has talked about promoting in his years at Chelsea would stretch from the Bridge to Barcelona and back again. How much has Ake played for instance? I'm afraid you have mistaken my pragmatism for negativity. Lotus Cheek?? When it happens I'll believe it, until then just more bollocks.

Bet Harry Kane is over the moon he wasn't at Chelsea. The point I am arguing is not that our youth don't get a chance, but that Jose and the Club keep on telling us how great they are and that we will start promoting youth, but not until next year. Afraid I don't believe a dickey bird.

Best you do your research, CP.

Jose said Solanke would ' probably he will be on the bench against Arsenal' but chose 'Lotus' cheek instead.

.Ake got injured playing for Holland.

Shame; made the first-team squad, three appearances against Bolton, Shrews and Maribor, looked good imo.

Then did his hamstring and was out til Jan. Getting a run of games at Reading now his hamstring is hopefully sorted.

When has Jose ever talked about talking promoting kids until recently?

He has never even shown the remotest interest in youth players until 2014.

It is you who is talking bollocks I am afraid.

Give it time. If no kids have come through by 2016 start whining then.

So is Jonathon Trott and Kevin Pieterson. They may be eligible but they are hardly locals and many of them were born abroad and have played internationally for other countries. Anyway, it wasn't my point at all which was applicable to all of our kids irrespective of their birthplace or who their international preference might be.

Football is a short term game nowadays. I don't blame any managers for not trusting youth when virtually any manager is a few poor results from the sack. The galling thing is when a team is playing **** and still sticking with the experienced pros not doing the job, QPR being a prime example.

If you win the league in the next week or two, it would be nice, just as a fan of English football, to see some kids given a game but then is there a risk of upsetting senior players? Would Costa, for example, be happy to sit on the bench so a teenager can get a game when he's on for the golden boot? Just a hypothetical- no idea if he's close to the golden boot or even fit but the egos of star players these days are another consideration.

It's always going to be difficult for any up coming academy talent to break through. We see it every year the champions are laden with very expensive foreign players (British players generally being dearer). Mostly these players are all internationals so one would have to be extremely gifted to force their way through at these clubs.

Chelsea like others bring these boys through and when they can go no further we put them out on loan to get them experienced and to bring them on. Only the very best will be good enough for Chelsea's 1st team and those that don't make that grade get sold on to smaller clubs but are still very talented individuals like Bertrand.

At the moment we have a fantastic array of young talent, probably the best for years. I would like to imagine we would get 2-3 come through and represent this great club, I know Romans wallet would.

    I'd love it too.

Others may not: what would they have to bitch about?

Completely agree. Give some kids a game if the title is won.

Pretty sure Jose would do that, if we win.

I do my research. BBC web site," Mouhrino said Solanke was withdrawn from the youth team to be available against Arsenal, probably from the bench". Now either BBC have it wrong or Jose was insincere.
Before his injury Ake sat on the bench plenty of times, ready to play, but just getting splinters.
Give it time??? When did Terry come into the squad? I think we've all given it way too much time. Jose' history is crystal clear, he always buys his teams, never creates them. That's OK by me, it works. I just don't buy this talk about kids joining our 1st team squad, next year, there's always a next year.
And I'm not whining, I'm giving an opinion which is different to yours.

You posted 'the number of kids Jose has talked about promoting in his years at Chelsea would stretch from the Bridge to Barcelona and back again. How much has Ake played for instance'.

You obviously did not know Ake did his hamstring in November and Jose has only recently said two or three kids may make the first team squad. He had no interest in promoting kids in his first spell here. Where do you get this rubbish that 'the number of kids Jose has talked about promoting stretch from the Bridge to Barcelona'.

You also posted that Jose 'promised' to put Solanke on the bench ("Jose said mid week that Solanke was pulled from the youth team so he could play against the gunners from the bench.." #23) Solanke didn't make the bench, and so it is "just more bollocks".

Now you have bothered reading what he said properly you can see he said Solanke would 'Probably' make the bench. See the difference?

You also say "I just don't buy this talk about kids joining our 1st team squad"

Brown, Loftus-Cheek, Blackman, Ake, Christenesen, etc are in the first team squad. The problem is Jose does not play them

    Ages at which tonight's (used) #CFCU18 players joined Chelsea (1-11): U12, U11, U8, U9, U13, U12, U8 (U8), U16 (U11), U8, U12 (U16), U16.

That's from twitter. I'd say that was pretty local.
