I like how the Beeb have made out we're the "victims" rather than the "target". It might seem like a small difference but it does make us look rather more stupid when they portray us as being suckered in when all we did was contact Twente to confirm they were sending out an agent to whore their striker to clubs. If you're going to make an assumptionit would seem more likely to assume that we knew the signature was forged or that the agent was unlikely to be genuine as we'd have their chaiman's signature on file and know how they do business based on signing a player off them in the summer. It's like saying anyone that's ever received a spam email from a Nigerian prince is a victim of attempted fraud even if they just delete it. Anyway the real idiots are the con men, there can't be many clubs that have done a deal with Twente recently so to target one of them is just stupid.

Made the same point on the Arsenal board. They were using it as a reason to laugh at us - but we weren't taken it at all (from what we know) so what's to laugh at?

Yeah, thought so.

By my reading of the story, I cannot see how we are "victims" in any sense of the word. Quite the opposite, in fact; we appear to been cute to the possibility of a potential fraud, and went through all the correct procedures and checks, so that the fraud was discovered at the earliest opportunity.

I would advise the Gooner fraternity to reserve its laughter for when they sink back down to 4th, following one of the most spectacular bottle-jobs in recent times.
