As someone who doesn't want a No Deal brexit, I do NOT want her to go. The one thing we know is she doesn't want that either.

If she leaves we'll get some **** who will just leave without a deal.

I think if she stays, a no deal is almost inevitable because she doesn't have the leadership skills to convince people to back her.

You don't think she'd push her deal all the way to a people's vote?

She didn't before she got the extension when she was running out of time. It's possible though I suppose.

If there's one time I tend to trust a politician's motives, it's when their political career is over. Once their careers are over they tend to be a bit more sincere in doing what's right because there's no ulterior motive.

I wonder, if May has accepted her career is over (bearing in mind she will only last until December at the latest) she may just do what she truly believes is in the national interest. That in her view could be Her Deal or No Brexit.

There's three issues at heart here

    A) there next election in labour minds nothing else

    B) there's avoiding any election in Tories minds

    C) there's stubbornness and only one deal available

So..... the only real solution today is a general election as we know in our collective hearts if this goes to October there will be the exact same impasse as there was in March.

There is no possibility of a deal with the UK withdrawal treaty as part of it with corbyn and the erg and dup... none.

The only means to break this is election but there won't be one called

Scottish independence: Sturgeon wants indyref2 by 2021
Nicola Sturgeon has said she wants to hold a second referendum on Scottish independence by 2021 if the country is taken out of the EU.

The first minister told Holyrood that she would introduce legislation soon to set the rules for another vote.

But she indicated that she would need the agreement of the UK government before actually holding a referendum.

Downing Street has previously said it will not grant a new Section 30 order, which underpinned the 2014 referendum.

Ms Sturgeon said this position was "unsustainable" and challenged her party to increase support and demand for independence.

The Farage phenomenon could put Johnson into No 10
MPs returned to Westminster this week in poor spirits, anxiety levels ratcheting up once again as they grapple with the Brexit paralysis consuming our government, parliament and political discourse.

The painstaking business of Brexit picked up where it left off before the Easter recess. Cross-party talks, triggered by the prime minister in early April after her deal was blocked by parliament for the third time, resumed.

The negotiating teams remain gridlocked. Conservative backbenchers are still plotting against the prime minister as leadership contenders quietly build their teams and canvass support. Labour MPs are still rowing amongst themselves over whether to back a second referendum.

If Scotland a new referendum already (they won't) then brexit should get a new referendum.

I do understand Scotland's pain, but I don't see them getting a referendum before brexit (assuming brexit happens). Should Scotland reaply for EU membership they won't get the opt-outs the UK has.

Meaning physical border with England and having to join Eurozone. I'm not sure that that would be ideal for Scotland.

Jeremy Corbyn was hit by a growing revolt today as four union bosses ratcheted up pressure on the Labour leader to clearly back giving the public another say on Brexit.

They lined up with senior MPs to urge Mr Corbyn to come off the fence and throw his weight firmly behind a confirmatory vote on any Brexit deal.

Ahead of a crunch meeting of Labour’s National Executive Committee, GMB general secretary Tim Roache told The Standard: “It must be the public who have the final say on Brexit. A grubby political stitch-up to meet the needs of internal Tory party politics, rather than the best interests of our country, won’t put this question to bed for a minute, let alone a generation.” Unison general secretary Dave Prentis stressed: “The Prime Minister’s deal and a no-deal Brexit would be terrible for the UK, public services and working people.

Labour manifesto restates position on another referendum
Labour has agreed a European elections manifesto that restates the party's comitment to pushing for another referendum if it cannot change the Brexit deal or force a general election.

A high-stakes meeting of its ruling body decided the manifesto would be "fully in line" with Labour's existing policy, a source told Sky News.

The manifesto will be published "soon", a party spokesperson promised.

It comes after Labour's deputy leader Tom Watson walked out of an earlier meeting of the shadow cabinet, for not being shown the draft document.

He has called for the party to explicitly commit to a second EU referendum ahead of next month's European Parliament elections.

When he emerged from the meeting of Labour's National Executive Committee, Mr Watson said the manifesto would be launched next week.

But he repeatedly declined to answer if he was happy with the outcome of the over five-hour conversation.

Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson has been sacked after an investigation into a leak from the National Security Council.

A Downing Street spokesperson said Theresa May had "lost confidence in his ability to serve" in the cabinet.

They continued: "The prime minister's decision has been informed by his conduct surrounding an investigation into the circumstances of the unauthorised disclosure of information from a meeting of the National Security Council.

"The prime minister thanks all members of the National Security Council for their full cooperation and candour during the investigation and considers the matter closed."

    conservative kicking.

the others are the interesting part.

I am mildly interested in just seeing if the people in NI are angry at all with DUP and switch to UUP. I'd presume (rightly or wrongly) that large swaths of NI is basically down the sectarian divide so will there be a switch on the nationalist side too?

In the end theres no devolved government in NI so both big partys could be in for a kicking anyway.
