I see Sky Sports News are delighted to report the first skirmish in France. Headline report and up to date live from Marseille... So some drunks of 2 nations have a fight and Sky are licking their lips and loving it........... References from 18 years ago , camera shot of a bit of glass on the pavement ,etc Bit of balance please chaps your just fuelling the flames
Two England fans arrested, one injured, with four OB going to hospital with minor injuries, almost no damage. Seems it wasn't down to our lads (Steve Douglas is an Associated Press journalist)... Steve Douglas @sdouglas80 Just spoke to manager of Marseille pub where trouble flared. Said local youths "came to fight", English fans weren't to blame.
It was something of nothing. But the BBC this morning made out it was absolute carnage with thousands of English burning the place to the ground.
In the clip on the beeb website it does look like 2 lads get a right hiding in a shop doorway. No worse than any city centre on a Friday night granted, but it's pretty tasty. Cant tell which side is which, like.
I generally hate the British media, but especially during any footy tournaments. English fans having a drink, causing no problems get attacked by local youths who **** off immediately. 2 English fans get arrested, so all English fans are hooligans ala the late 20th century. Reported in the usual way. ****s.
Watched England play W Germany, in the late 80s, at Dusseldorf. Post game, ALL England fans ****ed off quickly, buses and cars. As we went to our car, we could see German fans letting off rocket fireworks along the floor at the German police, who to be fair, didn't **** around and sorted them out quite quickly and without any worries about being accused of police brutality. Gets in, puts the TV on to see the news. "England fans cause trouble in Germany". Dark scenes of people squaring up to the police, fireworks, fighty noises. No they ****ing didn't. No England fans in sight. Nowts changed, it ****ing annoys me.
This is my grief Happy... No matter how small find it, liberally report the truth and keep it going. Its like starting a rumour and seeing how far it goes
Catalan Dragons at home ? Never been away to watch England and only ever seen City in Europe which was an eye opener to me. Lokeren. Great pre match atmosphere, loads of City there, loads of beer and singing. One or two locals asking cheekily if we were fighters then laughing it off. They knew something was going to happen. Then the riot cops arrived and the atmosphere changes dramatically. Led into an ambush by the police, kept there whilst pelted with bottles and bricks by about two dozen locals hiding behind a fence and behind the police lines and the same treatment on the outward journey. Locals said 'It happens every week' Some lads there who do follow England away said it is exactly what happens when they travel to watch England.
I followed England to Portugal, Germany and Japan and never came across any trouble at any of them. In Japan they spent months practicing dropping riot police onto pitches from helicopters and were rather baffled when absolutely nothing happened. I don't think it crossed their minds that it's actually rather expensive for Europeans to get to Japan and most of the people at the games would be Japanese.
Bit over the top from the Gendarmes firing Tear Gas. What they going to do when thousands more England fans arrive today & tomorrow.
Fresh violence breaking out between police and England fans, lots of CS gas, police charging with shields. please log in to view this image
Reports suggest two were actually arrested, one English and one French, the art of chair chucking was employed apparently, nuggets !
