<applause> Yes, today is war ! Nothing about the best team winning and all that stuff. Let all Hornets in the stadium make a noise which even Feyenoord or Celtic would be proud of, let all Hornets who are not in the stadium use their psychic powers to best effect. May the team sweat blood for their shirt, and may the manager be able to walk onto the field at the end with one hand on his cojones, like Diego Simeone.

Hopefully the Wolves fans have not read this as we have to board the train to Wembley which is likely to be full of their supporters. I will not mention, Brexit, politics or football. I'm polishing my Brummie accent as I type!!! :emoticon-0105-wink:

I have friends in England who have the Telegraph delivered every day, but they don't do news. When it comes on TV they change channels. They take the paper for the crosswords, the letters and the obituaries, but not the news. At least as they don't do sport or business either, I get the supplements.
 
For the second time recently I have read an article in the DT by a civil servant who says both the EU and UK have been working (for 2 years) to ensure that if a no deal transpires the impact will be minor and if there are any unforeseen issues then they can be sorted quickly. Calais itself has been completely upgraded with new customs posts to cope with the extra checks.

Going onto WTO terms is not such a nightmare, tariffs are 4% and paperwork minimal, businesses are used to these terms as many use them to trade with non EU countries.

Of course all this could be avoided if the EU agreed to a free trade agreement based on the current customs union without all the baggage that comes with it. That is a non starter for them as there would be line of EU states invoking article 50.

Daily Mail columnist Peter Oborne says he's changed his mind and now thinks Brexit could be 'a disaster' Oborne has also been the chief political commentator at the Daily Telegraph, so can hardly be called a lefty.

It’s nearly three years since I, along with 17. 4 million other Britons, voted for Brexit. Today I have to admit that the Brexit project has gone sour.

Brexit has paralysed the system. It has turned Britain into a laughing stock. And it is certain to make us poorer and to lead to lower incomes and lost jobs.

We Brexiteers would be wise to acknowledge all this. It’s past time we did. We need to acknowledge, too, that that we will never be forgiven if and when Brexit goes wrong. Future generations will look back at what we did and damn us.

So I argue, as a Brexiteer, that we need to take a long deep breath. We need to swallow our pride, and think again. Maybe it means rethinking the Brexit decision altogether.

If we are honest, we Brexiteers have to admit that the economic arguments for Brexit have been destroyed by a series of shattering blows.

It has become clear to me, though I’ve been a strong Tory Brexiteer, that Britain’s departure from the EU will be as great a disaster for our country as the over-mighty unions were in the 1960s and 1970s.

The French and Spanish are reported to be playing hardball over negotiations to extend article 50, hopefully their unreasonable demands will be rejected so we leave on Friday.
 
It is quite funny to watch the oddballs such as Cash, Redwood and Bone standing up with steam coming out of their ears, demanding a vote on an amendment they have put forward, and losing the vote by over 300.

Fortunately there are qualifying schemes in several EU countries which allow non EU citizens to become permanent residents. These are handy if the Labour / Marxist Party ever gains power.
 
The least Trump could do is to wait until the UK is out of the EU before he imposes the massive tariff increases to imported EU goods. Maybe he can do it on Monday?
