It is not inconceivable that she would go down this road because the only thing which concerns her is that Parliament gets the blame for such an event, and that the media plays along with this lie. The people cannot continue passively being led by the nose on this - demonstrations need to be bigger and louder, including act of non violent civil disobedience - the TUC also now needs to take more of a role, with the threat of a general strike. As the government has now proved itself to be incapable of governing, perhaps it is time to try something radically different. How about allowing people to buy a cheap blue passport, then allowing them to purchase additional rights to travel as and when they need them. Meanwhile others could choose to continue with their nice EU one without having to buy the add on bits. The same could apply to driving licences, or even different debit cards that allow you to buy at UK prices, or the lower EU ones. The individual would have to make the choice, so in that way it would be truly democratic.

Clearly the best option now is to leave with no deal. Remainder May and the incompetent top civil servants have made a hash of the negotiations. Let us leave, purge the cabinet of democracy denying remainers chose proper Brexiteers for the leading government positions and negotiate with some backbone. Do not pay the ransom, Just the minimum legally required, no sweeteners as at present within the £39 billion.
In the first week sink a couple of French fishing vessels found poaching in U.K. waters, this should remind these Johnny foreigners we will not take any further crap from them.
Interesting to see a text which includes 'purges' and 'democracy' in the same sentence. It gives us an insight into your version of democracy, which is something akin to that of Kim Jung. 'Purges' indeed - had you never realized that democracy has something to do with inclusiveness ? Unfortunately we use the word 'democracy' a great deal, but nobody ever defines it exactly - it is something which our 'friends' have, and our 'opponents' don't. Your problem is that all of your 'champions' of Brexit - the Rees Mogg's, Bojos and Farage's never gave a damn about the working class, or the poor, until needing their support for a short term project. Their long term goal is a Britain free of all annoying regulations regarding worker's rights, environment etc. which can complete the neo liberal de regulation of the country in preparation to becoming the 51st state of the USA. Nothing more than a right wing coup attempt - and the 'Turkeys' believed it and voted for Christmas, but, in the meantime, many have woken up to their mistake.
The arrogance of some of you remoaners is amazing, basically saying 17.5 million who voted for Brexit were too stupid to be allowed to decide the future of the UK. They simply wanted to be free of the shackles imposed by Brussels.
You talk about shackles yet, when challenged on the subject, have failed to produce one example of a law which was imposed on us against our will - if you still cannot do this then I suggest you refrain from coming up with such tripe on here. Those 17.5 million may have voted for many different reasons and I am not saying that they were all stupid - they voted based on the information which they were given, but the quality of that information has since been proved to be faulty. It stands to reason that in a country with FPTP voting, where most votes are thrown away, that when a referendum came along on something then frustrated voters would take the opportunity to rock the establishment in any way they could - and they saw the EU. as part of the establishment. For many it was simply a protest vote.

In 1987 Margaret Thatcher led the Tory party and won an election. With 13.7 Million people supporting her she carried on as PM which you no doubt believe was the will of the people. By 1990 a bunch of Tory ministers, probably no more than 30-40 decided that she had got it wrong, and removed her from office. Today millions are saying that the Tory party has got it wrong, and want to take a different course. If 30-40 people are enough to change the course of a country, then a government should listen to the millions, not try and carry on regardless. If you wish to freeze policy at one moment in time, then you have to accept that a political party should not have power to change policies or leaders between elections.

First off, given you think the Government is useless and the civil service even worse how can you possibly expect a no deal to be anything other than a disaster?
Second, given that non compliance by UK vessels in French waters has recently been worse than the other way round, can we take it you'll be happy for the French navy to sink UK trawlers?
The electorate have wisely chosen the Tories to lead the country for almost the last nine years and until 2022. There is no evidence that it prefers any other political party in preference. You need to study the rules and lobby your MP if you disagree with any of them and would like them changed. Until then try to keep up with the procedures.
Might I remind you that under the current rules your party does not have a majority. Your leader asked for a larger majority and the voters have said no. To think that represents any faith in the Tories is delusional.

I don't really think there should be one but if he is calling for it too then I might have to reconsider!
The 77 year old lady who started the petition to Parliament asking for Article 50 to be revoked, which now stands at over 4.5 million, has received a number of death threats. What the hell is going wrong? For people to frighten an elderly lady who simply expresses her point of view, supported by a large number of others, to be treated like this is despicable. I am sure that in the eyes of some, and I will not try to hang this round the neck of SH, she is fair game. I disagree, but clearly there are forces at work that are driving the country into a very dangerous place.
I don't normally post in the forum and I very seldom look at this thread, so, why post now? Just that I agree with OFH re the country is lurking to a very dangerous direction. Even my mild mannered, extremely kind hearted "old", ok, mid 70s neighbour (and a good friend) would foam at the mouth when people start talking remain. He even thinks the murder of Jo Cox was fair game! There was, and will be, problems with religion, race .... but to condone murder partly over Briexit ???
You have summed up rather well my fears of how some people seem to have have become extreme since the referendum. I still struggle to understand why this has happened. It seems that a the cork has been taken out of the bottle and it has released too much to be forced back in. I could write at length about other countries that have protests which seem to be violent at the time, but it is almost as if that demonstration releases the hatred. In the UK which doesn't have the same culture, it is almost as if individuals have some sort of pent up anger, that boils over from time to time. I don't believe it is something on a national basis at present, but there are forces at work that are spreading dark stuff that some are happy to pick up. Anyway thanks for your contribution dyhk, do come more often.
