Still pinning your hopes on May’s deal, your losing run is about to continue

 

Seems as if Gove is very much in favour of the deal. I thought he was a mate SH.

 

ECJ and European Commission to have jurisdiction in the UK in respect of the EU customs code, technical regulations, VAT and excise, agriculture and the environment, single electricity market and state aid.

Why have we bothered?

 

Gove is of the mind to leave the EU then improve the terms later. Not a safe policy in my mind.

 

I told you May’s deal was rubbish, typical from a gullible remainer.

 

He probably knows more about it than any of us to be fair.

 

I think it's fantastic. If it gets through Parliament it will be the funniest day ever.

 

Maybe, he obviously knows much less than the former Brexit minister, you should listen to him.

I suspect that your dreams are starting to unravel SH. Your party is in a shambolic state, and is unfit to govern. If there were a more effective opposition they would be shown up as totally incompetent. Every day that passes shows up just how much more mature politicians are this side of the Channel.

 

Meanwhile in France - Saturday will bring nationwide blockades to protest against the price rise of fuel including a tax hike. Macron’s popularity could take another slide.

 

Yes, the Italian politicians standing up to the bullying Eurocrats is a fine example to other member states. The EU is clearly on the slide.

 

If you were able to read what was happening in France over environmental issues I might take notice of what you say. If you wish to discuss this there is a thread on the forum. However this thread is not about that. It is about the mess that you and your like have brought about in the UK.

 

This thread is about UK/EU future. The comparisons between the two areas are not only relevant but essential to forge policies in future. There are those on here that would prefer to hide the numerous, and growing problems, in the failing group we are about to be liberated from.
The weakness of the leadership in both France and Germany will be a factor in the eventual relationship the UK has with the EU. We had the hype last year about Macron finding a new concencus in politics. He has achieved this by most of the county not liking him!!!!!

 

The trouble from your position is that you are not going to be liberated as you hope. The agreement states that you will follow EU rules and regulations, so no real freedom there. New rules that the EU choose to create, and the UK will have to bring those into UK law, but instead of what you have now, you will have no say in formulating them. I wouldn't agree to having a business competitor set the rules under which I traded, but this is exactly what you and your friends have brought about.

 

The problem you have with this disappointing anlysis is that there is no agreement in sight. I very much doubt it will get through Parliament. I also doubt May can survive very much longer.

 

You are wrong in saying there is no agreement because it has been signed off between the UK and EU. It has also been agreed by the Cabinet. I would agree that the chances of it getting through Parliament are close to zero, but we must wait and see on that one. On the future of the PM it is unlikely that she will be replaced, although possible. Tonight Brady has not received enough letters to trigger a vote of no confidence, but even if they came in shortly it is unlikely that the majority of Tory MPs would vote for it. You should be careful what you wish for though. Today both Hague and the PM have stated that get it wrong and the country will stay in the EU.

 

There is no workable agreement unless it gets through Parliament which is very doubtful.
